Gathering of radio geeks of all kinds (May 4th & 5th)

For those that remember the "Hosstraders" hamfest that had been held for the last 33 years, you probably know that that great tradition has ended... but there is a replacement!

The New England Amateur Radio Festival (NEARFest) will be held next weekend (Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th). It will be held at the Deerfield, NH fairgrounds, which is where Hosstraders was until 1993. The NEARfest is a large flea market where people can sell out of the back of their cars, as well as some commercial vending space inside buildings.

Of course, like the name says, most of the people that will be there are amateur (ham) radio operators, but certainly not all. All kinds of electronics goodies can be found there, and radio people as well.

I have met quite a few people involved with broadcast radio at Hosstraders in the past, and I know they all have the word about this new event as well.

More information about the event (directions, admission prices, etc...) can be found here:

http://www.near-fest.com

I think a lot of people from these boards would enjoy themselves there. Myself, I have more of a good time socializing with other radio geeks there than buying or selling.

Maybe we'll see some of you there!
