George A. Romero, ‘Night of the Living Dead’ Director, Dies at 77

George A. Romero, famed horror director, died Sunday at age 77, according to a statement from his manager, Chris Roe.

Romero is best known for starting the zombie subgenre in horror movies with “Night of the Living Dead.” Released in 1968, the film helped pushed the boundaries of what violence could be depicted in film.

Born in the Bronx to a Cuban father and a Lithuanian mother, Romero got his start as a filmmaker with commercial TV projects. One of those projects was a segment in 1960 for “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” in which Mister Rogers teaches kids about how and why kids sometimes get their tonsils removed.

this is a sad day for entertainment, he redefined the Zombie move, without him, there would be no Resident Evil, no The Walking Dead and it's sister show Fear The Walking Dead and ZNation. the guy reinvent Zombie movies, before him, Zombie movies were about people under voodoo curse, but he turned it into living dead people.

RIP George A. Romero, you will be missed in horror movies like Wes Craven too.
