Giffords is shot and KJLL keeps running F***ING INFOMERCIALS??!!!!??

Jared Loughner was a 92.9 The Mountain listener, not talk radio, it appears

Check out this tweet from someone purported to know the assailant. ( http://twitter.com/caitieparker/status/23853016876589057)

I'm surprised no one has commented on this photo showing Jared Laughner proudly standing next to a 92.9 The Mountain sign at the U of A book fair. 92.9 has a clear focus on social equality, environmentalism and a definite slant to the left to their playlists and hosts. I wonder what Tim Richards has to say about his favorite station now?

Thats a pretty shortsighted comment, TRJ. So If I go to a Circle K and stand next to a Remote Booth for The Mountain I am suddenly a 92.9 Listener? The Festival Of Books was a Huge Event and because one of the Volunteers holds a sign doesn't mean they are a listener of that station and seriously, what does it mean if they are? Sorry but I could give a rats about CC yet when I see a comment like that, have to chime in at that ignorance of it all.

Getting back to the original question which is why KJLL didn't send its massive news team to cover the big event: Why would one of the smallest broadcasting entities in the market be expected to be the news leader?

Over forty years ago, KJLL Manager John C. Scott was one of a three man news department at KTKT. In those days we actually went out and did field reports. KTKT then got sold to its present owners and I doubt if Tucson has had a serious radio news gathering operation since.

As consolidation gobbled up more and more stations, community service including news has declined and declined. If there is any way that the listening public has benefitted from having four companies own nearly every station in the market, I'd like to know how.

Events like the one on Saturday merely dramatize my point.

EXACTLY. "LIVE and LOCAL" is the reason people aren't supposed to choose the FAR superior music offerings on SIRIUS/XM All mass murderers should only be allowed to commit crimes before nightfall weekdays. Memo to nature-you too when it comes to natural disasters.

Speaking of KJLL 1330 South Tucson, C-SPAN is currently doing a video simulcast
of John C. Scott's gabfest until 5 PM MT today (Tuesday 01/11).

Check your C-SPAN program schedule for any repeat broadcasts.

"If you don't want people to know about it on KTKT - don't let it happen!" ;D

Close, but not quite. The exact liner, with reverb: "IF YOU DON'T WANT IT HEARD ON KTKT NEWS (slight pause) DON'T LET IT HAPPEN!"

Don't think we need to worry ourselves over that thought again.

Hot news on The Jolt? Really? I guess killing the world's most wanted criminal doesn't constitute coverage. Let's just stick with more infomercials and 1940s radio shows. The President was on every single station yet not even a break in or anything on the website??!?!?? No wonder Bill Buckmaster is running for the hills. What a joke of a radio station.
