What do you mean?

And I also see you're conveniently ignoring the shooter's own words. You'd make a great executive producer for Hardball.

Honestly, I listened to 104.1 due to the fact that Radio these days does not have the staff to cover a tragedy like this and turned it over to KGUN. I did listen to a little coverage from KNST - listened to Garretts weak voice try and create some news radio, KRQ gave a quick update and got back into music after telling people to tune into KNST, KJLL - well you know the story there, KGVY - not saying a damn thing because they were afraid of giving out the wrong info - just a lot of stumbling, KLPX - Music, KHIT - Music - Didn't get a chance to hear the coverage of KVOI? Anybody?

I think the real question is why are you choosing KJLL as your news source? You must be the only person in Southern Arizona who even cared what they were doing on a weekend. You can't honestly be surprised that the mostly-brokered pea-shooter didn't jump into full blown coverage, are you? Hell, we all know you hate 104.1 and 790, but you do know there's an NPR station on FM right?

KNST (pathetic) for about 15 minutes, prior to the 6pm news conference.

Stunning coverage, wasn't it??

KNST isn't much more than an out station of Cheap Channel Phoenix.

I think I heard a local live staffer on air during the 1 PM hour, but I'm not sure
who he was or for how long the coverage lasted.

Heck, normally there's no local presence after 11 AM on weekdays--the news,
weather and traffic originate at KFYI.

NPR was apparently the source of the erroneous "Giffords is Dead" report that CNN and others picked up on about noon and were later forced to retract, so their credibility in this is pretty low.
Say what you will about KGVY "not saying a damn thing because they were afraid of giving out the wrong info", but next to NPR's gaffe they come out smelling like a rose. Also, they were the only local station that dumped their regular programming yesterday (Steve Goddard's "The '70s") and actually stayed on the story all afternoon, live and local. Props to them!
...also, not radio but TV: A big razz to KVOA for dumping out of their local coverage early yesterday afternoon for a stupid NFL game, while KGUN and KOLD stayed on the story.

I posted this question before but I'll ask again.....what purpose does it serve to have multiple stations covering the same story with almost identical reports?

This story could have been covered by half-hour updates or screen crawls. In the rush for each reporting entity to "scoop" their rivals we were inundated by errors and tons of speculation. The only thing "breaking" about their reporting was correcting their initial errors. In the press conference with the trauma surgeon of the Medical Center at least one "reporter" repeated questions that had already been answered.

Doesn't KVOA-TV have a 4.2 that they could have used for either the news coverage
or the game? And they said digital TV would be so wonderful. ::)

I thought 104.1 did a good job with what they had. It was right for Jon to come in and take calls.

...check his own statements at http://crooksandliars.com/karoli/tucson-shooter-identified-jared-lee-loughne -- he's obviously one of Beck's freakozoids, mirroring a lot of the same crapola Beck spews -- over KNST -- every damn day...

I asked my question because I had a feeling you'd hang yourself on bias. Boy was I right!
