Go Out And Play: Fox Dumps Its Saturday Morning Cartoons For Infomercials

Tribune's FOX 61 in Hartford is airing Infomercials 8AM-Noon On Saturdays although from 10AM-Noon they air under the CodeName "Weekend Marketplace".

I think "Weekend Marketplace" is Fox's infomercial block -- I haven't seen it, though I won't be surprised if it's nothing but two hours of infomercials you see everywhere else.

Sad but true; FOX has finally got itself out of the Saturday Morning Cartoon Business. Its stations can do whatever they like. Some of these stations are now offering Local News in their place. That leaves CBS, ABC, NBC, and The CW as the only Non-Cable networks that shows Cartoons/Children's programming. People nowadays are watching Nick & Cartoon Network-just to get their Saturday Morning Cartoon fix. SpongeBob still remains TV's Most Popular Saturday Morning Cartoon.

Wow, the economy must not be as bad as I thought if all these families with children have $50/mo to drain on Cable so their kids can watch Scooby Doo...

Just out of further curiosity, who is it that is buying stuff off these rambling spots, anyway?
Usually, when I see one of these spots, it persuades me NOT to buy it! These infomercials are pushy pushy pushy.

Has the FCC changed the start time for E/I programming, as at least two stations we know carry them at 5AM (maybe earlier)? If so, E/I has started to become a bigger joke than it was.
WHAS 11 in Louisville airs ABC's "Power Rangers" starting at 5am on Saturdays.

Though that program, as far as I know, is not E/I, giving many ABC stations reason to delay or pre-empt it.

I believe somebody with a disposible account or people with credit cards are the people who buys this kind of stuff;

Here are the top 5 most annoying Infomercials:
5. Express 101 Sandwich Cooker
4. The MagicJack Phone adapter-It helps you save money on expensive phone calls
3. Anything with Kevin Trudeau-Especially when He's on The View-Type Infomercial, "The Hot Seat"
2. Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer

And number 1 pick as the most annoying Infomercial:
1. Gary Collins' How to make you rich with NO money. Welcome to reality, folks; It COSTS Money to Make Money. Don't fall for it-Or you'll be bilked. This happens to be the same Gary Collins who crowned Vanessa Williams 25 years ago in Atlantic City-The Pageant's original home. 25 years later, Vanessa's career has taken off-As an R&B Pop Singer-And an Actress.(Ugly Betty)

Also, on the list; Tony Little, Air Supply, The Shamwow Dude, Australian pitchman Anthony Sullivan, and of course Billy Mayes. Infomercials are here to stay as well as commercials with Jeopardy's Alex Trebek Selling Insurance, and The Quaker Oats Guy peddling Diabetic Supplies. Anyway, You need away from the idiot box...

You're more likely to see that, in short form, on "The Price is Right'.
