"God Spoke"--and takes Air America away from Dallas...

AAR Dallas affiliate to go Catholic on Oct 1.

http://boreamerica.com/

"It didn't debut in Dallas-Fort Worth until March 2005, and it never really registered in the local Arbitron ratings. Coincidentally, Al Franken: God Spoke, a documentary featuring Air America's best-known host, is scheduled to open Sept. 29 at Dallas' Angelika Film Center -- two days before Guadalupe Radio takes over KXEB."

You really seem obsessed with obscure blogs, don't you?

And yes, BMP is selling KXEB to Guadalupe, along with two others. I posted that on the Dallas board a few days ago.

Sorry you couldn't find a way to throw a link to a Freak Republic post on here.

BoreAmerica isn't so obscure...and to be honest I didn't even know about the sale of the station till I saw it mentioned there. I don't check out every board.

KXEB is promoting an Al Gore speech on Sep 30; ironically, the last day they'll be doing AAR. Noticed some
sites promoting AAR in Dallas area; they regret this turn of events and hope to get it on another station.
Ideally it might be better for some very good lib talk hosts (ones with voices more palatable than Franken's,
maybe) to try and get on stations that are over-run with conservatives...instead of the let's-do-a-network-
and-appeal-to-extreme-left. I think the "center" seems to go more for conservative hosts rather than liberal
ones, but maybe it's the hosts themselves and not the idealogy which attracts listeners.

Have heard liberals call in to the likes of Hannity, so they DO listen. Meanwhile I don't know of too many
conservatives who listen to Rhodes, etc. Whether that means that those on the Right are rigid in their
views, or they don't find Rhodes enjoyable to listen to, I don't know. Somehow conservative hosts have
found a niche, and so have lib hosts--but not as big a niche...so far.

It is important to also point out this station was sold and the new owners are running with their own format.

In all fairness, both Racoon and Irish did include that point.

However, what (if anything) does this mean for KOKE, Austin and KTXX, San Antonio? Both (plus KXEB) are listed as part of the "Texas Progressive Talk Network." KXEB and KOKE are both owned by Border Media Partners (and KTXX appears to have some connection, as well).

Has anybody started a fund-raising drive down there yet? Are any stations in the market available for sale or lease (in case Sheldon Drobny is interested)?

KOKE and KTXX are not included in the sale.

KJON is also being purchased from BMP.

On a side note, I'm not sure what this all means for their sports contracts. They carry SMU and MLS' FC Dallas.

And there is a grassroots AAR group in Dallas:

Another cheap-shot comment from a right wing nut job.
Notice they think they are funny - even clever - repeating somebody else's "Err Amerika" phrase. To ignorant to realize "err" is pronounced "ur."

Yes, true, but I thought it was ironic that a religious station will debut two days after a film called "God
Spoke" premieres...if anything maybe the Catholic folks got a better deal on the station...lower value due
to lower ratings. Probably should have not implied that "God" took AAR away from Dallas, other than the fact that the new format is religious :)

Ha! Ha! Ha! I didn't get it the first time I read it. Now I'm rolling on floor.

How are these three items alike?
1. algore
2. fence post
3. pebble

Answer is due today.

Gee, we made it almost all the way to noon before some rightie posted a dumb-ass shot that has nothing to do with anything.

I'm sorry, Fred. That's the wrong answer. The correct answer is, they all have the same IQ. Better luck next time.

According to the Washington Post, Al Gore's IQ in his senior year in high school was 134. His SAT score was 1355.

If by "pebble" and "fence post," you mean Dan Quayle and Dubya, Gore's score was higher. But that's not saying much. Bush's drinking probably interfered with his ability to take the test.

"According to the Washington Post, Al Gore's IQ in his senior year in high school was 134. His SAT score was 1355."

Consider the source. One of the easiest ways to tell in advance if something is probably inaccurate is if the phrase "According to the Washington Post," precedes it.

Same as when it's preceded by, "According to the New York Times...".

Yes as opposed the articles contained in those beacons of truth like the New York Post and Washington Times.
