'Golden Girls' star Rue McClanahan passes away at 76

This is all Conrad Bain's fault. Everyone he works with dies.

First Dixie Carter, then Gary Coleman, who he worked with on "Diff'rent Strokes," and now Rue, who he worked with on "Maude."

;D

And his DS producer Martin Cohan died recently.

At least we know Rue went to heaven as a reward for 13 seasons of working with Bea Arthur.

Now can we get "Apple Pie" released on DVD? ;D

He even outlived his own wife! (Monica Sloane Bain died last year.)

Thank goodness in Chicago we have Me-TV. They are holding a salute to Rue today (June 6, 2010) starting at 4pm, featuring her in Maude

Ha, ha. All very amusing...but Mr. Bain is 87 years old. Most people that age out-live their spouses, and most of their friends and co-workers.

My father died at 83, and outlived my mother, his younger brother, most of the professional co-workers he was still in touch with, and most of his childhood friends.

Noticed that there is little Betty White and Rue Mclanahan on Hulu right now. The Betty White MTM episodes have not yet been added to Hulu, nor has "Maude". I understand Hulu is restructuring and trying gain a "pay" platform, but come on, put some of these episodes on atleast out of respect! God knows, nobody on cable and/or over the air seem to care.

Yet, one can still be able to go to Hulu to watch the "bank vault" episode of "Family Guy." It's a travesty, I tell ya! :D

The man has to be really sad right now. He lost one wife and a son in the same week. He's lost two wives this year.

Rue, Bea Arthur, and Betty White all had CBS connections before getting together on NBC. Rue and Bea both guest starred on "All In The Family", and Rue had a recurring role on Bea's "Maude". Betty joined MTM seasons 4-7. I'm sure most have heard the story that based on Betty's role on MTM, she was orginally cast in the "Blanche" role on Golden Girls, and Rue originally as "Rose". They turned it around at the rest is sitcom history.
Rue and Betty were in "Mama's Family" together. That was a spinoff of "The Carol Burnett Show". When Rue got her "Golden Girls" role they killed off her "Mama's Family" character.

that show doesn't get the credit it deserves... it was one of the best written sit-coms of all time, and the last one that was actually funny.
I'll have you know "Big Bang Theory" is funny.
