GONE LIKE A SOLDIER IN THE CIVIL WAR BANG BANG

From All Access, WCTK PD Steve Giuttari is out. I think he had the station sounding good. I wasn't crazy about certain staff changes, but then I'm not crazy about staff changes when I get set in my listening habits anyway. I think maybe there were some arbitrary decisions not to play certain legitimate hits, but peoples' philosophies are different. Let's see now. Who is available with country programming experience, has a proven track record, & knows what exit to take off 95? Yes I think I have it.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Adios Steve G!

Runrigger my good man. Would it be Rick Everett? Btw in a posting way back. You mentioned something about
DTV conversion in 2009. And getting your mom on board. Did things go well?

To answer your first question... how about Wille Nelson? He comes to mind...lol. Speaking of DTV conversion. I bought an HDTV about 7 months ago and I recently purchased two DTV boxes for my other sets. So they could shut off all the analogs tomorrow if they want. I'm all set.

Good thing the new morning guy's a comedian. He'll need a sense of humor when he gets there and finds out his PD's already gone. Somebody want to let him know before he packs up the U-Haul-It?

Yeah, been in that situation before...regardless of how nice of a guy or good of a programmer the new PD could be (if in fact Rick is the man), it could be a short run for the new AM Show.

truthandjustice, my future midday classic rock guy! The converter box issue went fairly well in that I got the coupon, bought one, & hooked it up to make sure it worked. Since it isn't 2/09 yet she had me disconnect it so it's back in the box until next February. She's in denial that this will ever happen since she doesn't understand it. This is a woman who tunes in WPRO once a week just to make sure Buddy is still there but never actually listens to him.

Converter boxes are good even with a lame indoor antenna. I now get WBZ and WCVB in with picture quality equal to local stations. This is a good thing since my lame cable company doesn't carry Boston affiliates.

I had the pleasure of working with Giuttari while he was in Texas. Good, solid stand up programmer. I smell a rat. It's too bad ownership wouldn't back him up.

Lawyers don't make good owners.

Runrigger I hear ya. Trying to explain why you have to tweak the television set, when its working fine. Has been a chore as well. It took forever for me to replace 1984 VCR with a VCR/DVD combo. Especially since the 1984 model still works ok. Then came trying to explain how to use the new model.....Thankfully it seems to be working out.

Who is to say that the new morning show was already dialed in (by someone above the PD level) ala the hiring of Mike Butts when Cap Cities was in the process of selling to Telemedia...the decision was out of Paul Cannon's hands

Oh I think the new guy is quite safe. Regardless of recent exits at Cat Country they're not a trigger happy operation. The bigger question is will Rick go back. He left on good terms so I don't see why not unless he has his sights set on bigger things. At least he wouldn't be walking into something without knowing the reality of the scenario there.

That would be the Thurburs Avenue exit. It's exit 18, right? Hard to believe that it's been 4 years since I routinely went speeding down that off-ramp.
