Gray Media stations start airing “Local News Live”

This is an afternoon newscast that is airing on Gray owned stations.

The one-hour newscast features stories aggregated from Gray Media’s local newsrooms across the country and the company’s Washington, D.C. bureau. A total of 37 Gray Media stations are airing the one-hour program in the afternoons, the company said in a statement.

The show offered to local TV stations is hosted by Debra Alfarone, the anchor of Local News Live and Gray Media’s national correspondent.

“Local News Live is uniquely positioned to deliver the stories the nation is talking about through a distinctly local lens,” Lisa Allen, the General Manager of Gray Media’s Washington, D.C. operation, said this week. “We are excited to increase our footprint and deliver impactful news and information to millions more viewers.”

Another cost-cutting move. Why pay for syndicated programming, or staff a truly local newscast, when you can just air already-produced national-interest content from your sister stations?

So will Gray stations air Local News Live and InvestigateTV+ back to back?

Interesting no Arizona Gray station is carrying the show.
KTVK/3 is running Judge Judy at 11 AM. KPHO/5 has CBS programming. KPHE/44 and satellites in Flagstaff, Yuma, and Tucson have sports-filler.

Not only that, it'll be tough to air LNL during the four months of standard time when its at Noon MT as all three will be airing local news.
