Gray Television on Tuesday promoted Collin Gaston, currently a regional vice president and the general manager of WBRC Birmingham, Ala., to senior vice president overseeing Gray television markets in the South, Texas and Colorado. Gray today also promoted Gaston’s successor as WBRC GM, Jason Mathews, who has been the station’s general sales manager.
Collin Gaston’s broadcast television career spans 30 years, beginning as an intern at WTXL Tallahassee, Fla., while completing a degree in media communications at Florida State University. Upon graduation from FSU, he joined WTXL’s sales department.
In 1998, Collin became a regional account executive and later national sales manager for WTEV Jacksonville, Fla. He thereafter added responsibilities for WAWS Jacksonville, the local Fox affiliate before becoming its local sales manager in 2005.
