Jody-Thornton said:Wow - This was a great thread - and by the way, thatks for the help on the O'Bryan single. I managed to find an old 12" at a local record shop.
I play a lot of these on my Classic Hits stream already. But I am going to have to search some shops for some of these songs. This thread brought up a lot of great memories most certainly!

Allen wasn't talking about pay for radio availability, but regular terrestrial radio here. Which is the point. I only know of maybe one that plays some, but not all of these and that's 90.1/90.5 WZRU. Other than that not a single station in Eastern North Carolina plays them. I know of no standards radio staion in this area unless someone would be willing (and I can't believe I'm asking this again) to provide call sign, frequency and city of license of said station that has this format.

I saw this on Wikipedia. They were Jack briefly but it didn't work out and their co-owned soft AC wasn't working out either. So they moved Jack to the soft AC and went back to standards.
I did mention this station on this thread already, but there are a lot of pages here.
Love Stinks still gets tons of airtime. So much infact that may be in my "Songs I wouldn't care if I never heard again" file...but that's off topic.Double J said:And how about...
Come Back/J. Geils Band
Love Stinks/J. Geils Band
I haven't heard it lately but it seems to be all over standards radio.Double J said:And speaking of "Greatest American Hero" I heard that song the other day on WZRU

Well I don't want to burst any bubble, but I will tell you that EVERY song that has been listed IS in the rotation of my station Magic 95.9. Started in this biz as a jock and remember the importantce of the music. You got to remember that if a song was a hit long ago, it has merit to play now. We have 8,000 songs in the library. I dare say that no other station in the country has Disco Duck & Mr. Jaws & KIng Tut in their regular rotation, but we do!!!!
allenv said:I will tell ya guys Magic 95.9 is the best station bar none for AC/Oldies/Classic Top 40 in this market.Bill Benjamin is a sharp, real radio dude and he pays me very well to say good things about him.Double J I've told you about Magic. It blows the big signal corporate stations away. The only things Magic lacks in a flamethrower signal or it would be a major player in this market.Bill Benjamin has a great radio mind like you do Double J. I'll introduce you sometime.I think you would like him.He understands real live local radio and he has the best Glen Campbell (circa 1970) hairdo ever....
