Great to see Max McGann back doing Morning Radio in the Piedmont Triad!!

I thought that he would make a super replacement for Jeff Roper at WTQR, but former longtime Piedmont Morning Man Max Mcgann is back doing Mornings at his former studio home-the old Majic 94.1 FM studios in Lexington. He will be the Morning Man on Oldies WLXN-AM/Wlxn-FM Kool 99.9 FM. Max is a class act and it will be great to hear him back on the radio again. Also, former Majic 94.1 Mid-Mornings Man Steve Finnigan is back at his old shift on Kool FM!! Steve is a good guy also. Bath were let go from the same company in March 2010, when WTHZ-FM Majic 94.1 was suddenly switched into K-Love. Great to see them back on the radio playing the Oldies!
 
I agree that Max and Steve are a class act. But I am furious that the format has diluted their excellent talent with too much music. Cut it to one or two songs per hour, please!! Please, everyone, write to WLXN if you agree with my opinion. I liked the format Bob Mahoney had before the station went tio Oldies. (i.e., no music)
 
I suppose I am glad for 99.9 but it is still tough to stomach knowing they had 94.1's 100kw they could be using, instead of a silly LPFM transmitter..... They deserve more WATTAGE!!!!

Maybe. The Salisbury Post reported that 94.1 FM is trying again for that new tower. We were all but promised that if they got it, oldies was coming back. Now I could be wrong ...
 
It seems like WLXN-AM/FM may be trying to find a loop-hole out of the K-LOVE contract. I bet that Gig Hilton has been listening to his right-hand man Tom Collins who was recently brought back. The fact that they are trying to get the new tower again shows that Oldies may be back on 94.1 soon. If they break the contract with K Love, then they most likely would be sued. However, they may be able to work out something with K Love, like use of the AM signal and 99.9 in exchange for 94.1 back...

Good grief! If Gig Hilton has been listening to his "right hand man" Tom Collins, then it's clearly the blind leading the blind! Rewind about two years ago when Gig Hilton allowed 94.1 to be programmed by Tom Collins. Do you remember that fatal mistake? Do terms like "history repeats itself" or "learn from your mistakes" mean anything to you?

How do you come to the conclusion that oldies may be back on 94.1 if the tower is moved? The moving of the tower is to hopefully blanket Charlotte with a city-grade signal which would make the value of the station much greater.

Of course the K-Love people will sue if Davidson County Broadcasting breaches the contract, and they should. Maybe, just maybe, Gig will realize that when you make stupid business decisions it always comes back to bite you in the ass.
 
I suppose it's a good thing to have a better signal for that so-called music, but I sure would like to see something replace K-Love.
 
Isn't the contract voided if the station gets their new tower? Or does that just give EMF priority at buying it?

Tom Collins and Don Curtis aren't even in the same league! The only thing they have in common is that both of their last names begin with the letter "C"!
 
Comparing Don Curtis with Tom Collins is so laughable that it's positively absurd! Like him or not, Don Curtis has hired some really smart people and they are making him money. Tom Collins is afraid to hire anyone with a brain or who he can't control. He's not a station owner and is only able to keep his job when it's with an owner he can control. Tom spent all his energy running off anyone that disagreed with him on anything and thought of himself as a programming genius.
 
Want a pretty good indicator of who is smart and who is not (in this conversation)? Just check their bank balance.

I have made a promise to my people that this is the last comment I will make about our famlies stations. Most of you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about! Oh and by the way, I retired at the age of 50 and don't owe a soul in the world a dime! Thanks Max.. BIGAPE
 
I am sure that Gig would move the transmitter, take back control of 94.1 and bring back Majic 94.1 if he COULD.
