Greater Media Speaks. Press release acknowledging the end of WTKK

raccoonradio said:
Maybe 2 hrs of stunting starting at 10a?

Possibly. The press release says WTKK's "final day" of broadcasting, so it could be any time after 10AM they decide to formally change over. I can't imagine there will be a fill-in host at 10AM after Jim and Margery's show ends, so WTKK likely ends at 10AM and then stunting until Greater Media pulls the switch.

I wonder if we'll know the format before GM puts it on. Will they be able to keep the format a secret for that long?

In honor of a new law here in the commonwealth they should play Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath in a loop once the morning show signs off until they are ready to begin their new format.

I was thinking of rolling tape, or should we say audio file, just before 10 till noon? 3? 5?... who knows.
It was someone on twitter joking that they'd do a 2 hour stunt of Milli Vanilli. And yes We Don't Talk Anymore is appropriate

I would start rolling tape at 9 or so. I've seen some formats debut at 10, others at Noon, 3 or 5. I'm going with 10 or Noon.

Wasn't WODS (before flipping to AMP) initially supposed to last until noon but they pulled Paula and JJ off the air shortly before 11:30?

that flip had a day of publicity all over twitter,fb etc so i vet there were anxious to get amp on the air!! The fact that they have said nothing and basically denying anything to me means there going to take there time with this!!

Memories, Fybush in 1999

>>where "FM Talk 96.9" is finding its legs on (mumble it quickly now, 10 dB under the music bed!) WSJZ Boston. Local programming kicked off this week with San Diego's Stacy Taylor following Don Imus at 10AM (along with, at least the first day, CNN network feeds that weren't properly potted down!), one day's worth of Mike Barnicle, and former WRKO night guy Jay Severin, among others. It's now sounding as though Taylor, anyway, is only a temporary host, and we suspect we'll have more programming changes to talk about soon as 96.9 settles in.

(This was not long after WRKO was to replace their AMD team of Jeff Katz and Darlene McCarthy)1

The following week:
>>"FM Talk 96.9" is shaping up at WSJZ, with some new additions to Boston's new FM talker. While Mike Barnicle is part of the station, he's doing just two hours a week, Thursdays 10-noon. That post-Imus slot is being held down by Marjorie Eagan of the Boston Herald the rest of the week. Stacy Taylor follows from noon till 2, Jay Severin (by ISDN from Long Island) 2-6, and Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa of the Boston Herald move over to WSJZ to do 6-7 pm weeknights before the station returns to smooth jazz for the night.

;D

Humor. Not much of that either.

Commercial radio is restricted, very cookie cutter. The thing of it is....commercial radio makes money. They'd be more likely to try African Folk Music,Bluegrass,Martian Harps,or Polka if what they could be convinced it would make money.

So far to be honest there has been no announcement of his hiring, but no denial either...so far. I'm
reminded of fliers put out years ago by the Church of the SubGenius, a parody religion: "The world
MAY end tomorrow, and you MAY die!" (Yes..."may"...not "will"... So yes he COULD, COULD be
on his way to GM to program 96.9 and maybe some other stations in the cluster but so far
no official announcement.)

And it's big bucks to buy a station...CC paid $14.5 M for the Harbor (and want to monetize it,
get a good return on investment). Yikes, imagine what the BIGGER stations would command for
a sale price!

It could just be my imagination, but for the past few days, 'MJX has sounded “hotter”, both processing-wise and in imaging/overall “sound”.
Maybe Cadillac Jack is actually going to 106.7 and tweaking it from Hot AC to Adult hits/Top-40 (if there is such an animal! ;D)?
If not, another possibility is that they are temporarily using alternate studios and/or audio chain (phone line?) while they prep 96.9’s big relaunch—?

"America did not fall off the fiscal cliff, but we fell off the radio cliff." And with that, the final "Jim and Margery" show is underway.
