Greater Media/WROR: Julie Devereaux and Albert O laid off

This really stinks

Ok I understand that every station is cutting back, with the overnights being hit hardest, I guess the lack of listeners because of no more 3rd shift manufacturing operations and the invention of Ambien have reduced the available listeners down to the nice people at GMF North Reading.

Julie D has bent over backwards for every radio company she has ever worked for. She went from BOS to ROR to make them sound better, and has been moved into every daypart except for morning drive and overnights.

IMHO she should replace Paul Perry. I liked her in afternoon drive. Let's face it nobody they put in there in the afternoons is going to pull great numbers. I'd like to know how Julies book in afternoon drive compared to the last 2 men who held down the shift.

Albert O should be doing nights.

They never should have canned Kim Collins either IMHO.

It's pretty sad when someone like me, who likes personality driven radio, has to put on XM Sixties on 6 to get it. The target audience of WROR still wants DJ's IMHO. We are not the IPOD gneeration, we want and expect human interaction.

Has every occupation related to the radio business become like a blacksmith after the Model T rolled out of Detroit?

I also heard weekender J.C. Haze (formerly of classic rock 96.5 "The Mill" WMLL Manchester, NH) in the late afternoon this past week.

JC is a regular weekender at WROR including this morning.

Well, WROR isn't leaving the overnights open either apparently. Stella had the evening/night shift two nights ago and there is some other female on the overnight right now at 1:40am. I heard her only briefly and I THINK she said her name is Katie although I could be wrong. Didn't sound like Stella or Kristin Lessard.

And Albert O is still listed on the jock page. ???

Mauzy Stafford is on WROR this morning, apparently doubledipping from CBS/Oldies 103.3 ;D

Stella Mars has the night shift tonight so they aren't keeping the 7-midnight shift completely unmanned (or unwoman-ed) at least for tonight.

Thats unfortunate....

They will probably voicetrack the open shifts. I think Huggy from WTKK was doing nights last night on WROR...boy those GM employees really whore themselves out.

I hope that was tongue in cheek...because you can't fault an employee for doing what's asked (told) of them.

They didn't have anyone on last night. Just the generic 60's,'70's and 80's all in one place liners between songs.

I was just perusing some station websites and Mauzy is now missing from the WODS website. Perhaps she has joined Greater Media since she was on WROR last weekend and WTKK a week or two before that.

So, aside from Dale and his Sat morning show, all other former members of the morning show (Mauzy, June, Jimmy) are now gone.
