Gray Television has hired Greta Van Susteren to do segments for their affiliates and Yes Gray Television is going to do their version of Must runs according to this report

(Gray News) - Gray Television, Inc. announced Thursday that award-winning journalist Greta Van Susteren has joined the company as its Chief National Political Analyst.

"After more than 20 years on cable news platforms, I am thrilled to move to broadcast news and especially excited to join Gray Television’s journalists all across the country," Van Susteren said. "It’s a journalist’s dream to be part of a growing media company so focused on delivering quality news in local markets big and small through trusted, local institutions like Gray’s television stations.”

She will provide the company’s newsrooms in more than 90 markets coast-to-coast with the expert, unbiased coverage of national and international political developments that have been the hallmark of her distinguished news career. In addition, she has two nationally syndicated shows in development with Gray.

“We’re thrilled to have someone with Greta’s depth of experience join our team," said Hilton Howell Jr., Gray Chairman and CEO. "Our stations and our viewers will benefit from Greta’s no-nonsense, straightforward approach to complex political issues."

Except her background is mainly as a legal analyst, not a political one.

True but then again the Gray owned stations must have seen how the Sinclair owned stations have been running with Boris Epsteyn though for their must runs though. I don't have an exact numbers though but in certain parts of the country Gray and Sinclair has to be competing against each other like the Reno TV Market where Sinclair owns KRNV and Gray owns KOLO. Gray got Greta Van Susteren as part of their rating ploy to go after the Sinclair owned stations and their must run talent though.

I can't imagine hiring her will help any station's ratings. I can't imagine anyone tunes in specifically to see what Boris has to say today. These corporate must-run things are likely sponsored features, sold by corporate, not the local station. So it's a way for the corporate office to make money off the ratings of its owned station. I think it's about money, not politics or ratings.

Nothing you linked says anything about must-runs.

True but it says Political Analyst and two shows for Gray Television though.

She'll be the chief national political analyst for the stations — which include WBAY (Channel 2) in Green Bay and WXAW (Channel 7) in Wausau — and is developing two nationally syndicated shows for the company.

She'll also be staying on as a host for Voice of America, which airs content outside the United States.

Congrats Greta on being hired by Gray not going to see it as Gray doesn't own a local TV station in West Michigan.

Update Gray will Syndicate Greta Van Susteren's show. Also Chicago (DMA without a Gray Owned station) is mentioned to also broadcast Greta Van Susteren's show.

In addition, in August, Gray will launch Full Court Press-Overtime across multiple digital platforms. The website and OTT app will feature extended interviews, live streaming and user interaction, as well as links to additional related news content. “The digital components will give us instant feedback on topics and questions that matter most to viewers,” said Van Susteren.

Initially, Gray will clear Full Court Press across its own footprint of 93 markets plus television stations in Chicago and Milwaukee, covering nearly 28% of U.S. television households. Gray anticipates securing additional station clearances prior to the show’s launch. Cassie Yde of The Television Syndication Co. is handling syndication.

Van Susteren is a veteran of Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CNN. Her primetime Fox News Channel Show, On the Record, was No. 1 in its timeslot for 14½ years. Before joining Fox News, she hosted CNN’s primetime news and analysis program, The Point with Greta Van Susteren, and co-hosted the network’s daily legal analysis show, Burden of Proof. Her legal analysis for CNN’s coverage of Election 2000 earned her the American Bar Association’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Journalism.

I wonder if Greta be on any of the TV stations in West Michigan Matter Of Fact is aired on WOTV Sundays at 11AM against Sinclair's Full Masure at 11AM as well. If Full Press comes on at a decent time I may watch it from time to time.

She's playing it pretty straight, very different what most people are hearing, as she pointed out, from cable news.

She comes off more like PBS than commercial TV.

Greta Van Susterens Show is apparently also going to be aired in New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles too. But I have no idea who would air Greta's show outside of cities with a Gray owned station though given that NYC, Los Angeles does not have Gray owned outlets.

“The show will tap the knowledge and expertise of Gray Television’s trusted bench of reporters who will provide on-the- ground reports from their communities,” said Sandy Breland, Gray senior vice president, local media. “It’s a perfect time to highlight politics through the local lens as viewers rank local news as their most trusted source. We look forward to Greta bringing her firm but fair approach to broadcast television.”

Full Court Press will premiere in over 76% of the country in major markets including New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and all of Gray’s 93 markets.

The premier episode also includes an interview with former NFL head coach and NBC’s Football Night in America analyst Tony Dungy.

Gray will also launch a new OTT and social media show, Full Court Press-Overtime to provide viewers and users with more critical content to explore all sides of a complex issue.

Here in Mankato its on Gray owned KEYC CBS 10:30am Sunday

For nearly 25 years, Greta Van Susteren was a cable news fixture as analyst and host of her own shows, first on CNN, then on Fox News and finally on MSNBC. But last year, she accepted a new gig in a new medium — broadcasting.

In an effort to raise its journalistic profile, Gray Television hired her early last year as its chief national political analyst with the goal of developing a public affairs show for the Gray stations and others interested in it.

That show, Full Court Press, made its debut last September with Van Susteren interviewing Democratic presidential dark horse Tulsi Gabbard and NFL TV analyst Tony Dungy. Since then, she has moved on to a bipartisan mix of other key Washington players, including other Trump challengers like Amy Klobucher and Pete Buttigieg and Republican lawmakers like Kevin McCarthy and Lindsey Graham.
