I have been debating whether I wanted to really get into this but, there are enough stories to write a book. The funny thing is that the true stories are more amazing than anything anybody could fictionalize. If you want to hear some of these stories, some of them I can tell and some of them I cannot tell. If you worked in radio and you have a related story, this is the thread to tell it. I can give you a few basics and this was certainly true in the 60s and 70s. There were always a bunch of young girls calling djs. First let me preface this by saying that there were three types of females who called djs.....too young, too weird or too ugly. In the case of too young, it was 15 year olds calling and claiming they were 18. This led to some djs getting accused of statutory rape or, even worse, getting the girl pregnant. Some of the djs went to prison in the case of statutory rape and some ended up getting married to the girls in the case of pregnancy, if the girls were of age. You may ask yourself, why would a dj be so careless and stupid to be vulnerable enough to do this. There is a term called "having a face for Radio". There were and I am sure, there still are some physically
hideous looking male djs and if it wasn't for these groupies, they would never have any normal woman look twice at them. This was all true for top forty radio djs but,
I would think would be almost nonexistent in oldies/classic hits radio because I don't think that djs are interested in hitting on 50 year old females. They are interested in hitting on 20 year old females. I'm sure a few people have some great true stories.

These days, between the erotic legitimization of MILFs and cougars + said DJs themselves presumably getting older, uglier, and more desperate, I wouldn't say 50 year olds are out of the "hitting on" market at all--and all the more so for the non-pedophilic "safety" involved. OTOH said females are themselves more likely to be the uglier and loopier ones, so there may be a different kind of Kathy Bates-ian risk factor--desperation + desperation makes for a lethal combo...
 
This happens even more nowadays as most of the radio DJs are on MySpace, and if you're at a station that has a pretty solid listener base consisting of girls that are underage, you will be flooded with requests for friendship from 14 year olds. A lot of the DJs I know that are in the same situation just put out a disclaimer that if they see on the profile that the girl is too young or believe from her looks that she may be too young, then they will not add her back. Some DJs just don't care, however, and love the attention they get. How far they actually go with these girls, though, I don't know.
 
Especially in an era where there are fewer and fewer DJs on the near side of 40, I think there's greater mass awareness of the inherent creepiness of physically canoodling with 14-year-olds these days.

Though where I come from, there was one DJ who was notorious for inviting listeners to threesomes with his wife--perhaps that might be more reflective of the kind of kinkiness oldies-radio types might be into, if they were into kink at all. ("Hey, you know the show Swingtown? We were there, and we lived it! Wanna join in?")
 
I've heard stories of night jocks inviting listeners into the studio... kind of convenient when no-one else is working at the station. And the stories I've heard well let's just say the girls weren't there just to watch the DJ.
