In 1947 there were 7,000 sets in use in the United States. 5 years later (1952) there were 6.5-million sets in America.

In January 2002 there were 5,000 satellite radio subscribers in the United States. In December, 2007 there were 18-million.

But the television sets cost alot more money.

Well there are a lot of variables that render the comparison fairly meaningless but overall point is a lot of things that are really important to consumers took many years to become ingrained. The big difference today is the money people quickly pull out if they dont see immediate ROI.
