... as for someone working traffic and getting to host a radio show..I do take some offense to that comment, because I also went from traffic reporting to working sports-- I just did it in a much faster and more efficiant way!
Take all the offense you want. So you went from traffic to host. What did that get you? High ratings, uh, no. Big boatload of cash? Uh, no. Raised reputation? Uh, no...
AND YES it is a short trip from being a caller to being a talk show host-- just as Leon Simon!
And reminjd me again when Leon carried his own show? Or did a show with some other nobody on a station nobody had ever heard of? Oh that's right he didnt. Leon managed to go from caller to sidekick on the back of a legend, one Norm Hitzges. Funny how Norm was there before Leon, and Norm is there after Leon, but Leon ain't around no more...But yeah, you're right Dave...It's a short trip. But just because one person did it, doesn't mean anybody else can do it. And there's a valuable lesson to be learned. It's a short trip up, but an even shorter trip back down...
, so as talentless as you believe some of us are, there are those of us, who make their own paths and not worry about the cliques of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and if you would be a source of help instead of hindrence you might be able to enjoy this industry better
I enjoy it just fine.....And Dave, for the record, I don't think you're talentless, I just think you're average. You're not bad (Like Nicki Granville bad), you're 'okay'. But I'm just not sure 'okay' cuts it in this market. You've got some talent, but so do Dougie Anderson, Richie Whitt, Kevin Fox, Kevin Scott, Pete Stein and mike Fisher, and and a dozen other sports wannabes that have cycled through KTCK, KLIF, ESPN, etc through the years...
