Gulch Radio airing Onion Radio News

Poker-faced Doyle Redland's "Onion Radio News" made me die laughing while listening to a blues show on Gulch Radio,a part 15er that also streams. I produce a blues show for an LPFM in Ohio and would like to air these hysterically funny vignettes. The Onion's website offers "subscriptions" that automatically download to my browser. Would rather have email feeds of the mini-feature. Who do I contact?

I tracked down someone at the Onion to run 'em on my network and he didn't care. As long as you aren't hacking out their spots, I can't see why they would.

Cool - they are very funny, glad you found us.

Rarely do the Onion Radio News episodes have spots and very few are current, I believe Doyle has retired so often there are references to President Clinton or President Bush - but no matter - they are still funny - you'd be surprised how many times people take them seriously. Hahahahahaahahahahahaha!

Subscribe in iTunes under podcasts - we also broadcast 60 Second Science from Scientific American (no ads) and the Discovery Files - National Science Foundation (no ads) - they are interesting and listeners like them, also available on iTunes.

Techno note: I have to convert the podcast format files to AAC or MP3 in order to edit them so they will rotate properly in the playlists - we use iTunes as our music list source and iTunes will not recognize the edited files unless you do an initial file conversion from podcast format to AAC or MP3 under "advanced" in the iTunes tool bar, in other words:iTunes download>convert to AAC>move to editing software>make edit>"save as" AAC and bit rate>back to iTunes for airplay. (If you use MP3's do the above as MP3's - we have all our music files in AAC - also, all of that may simply be a peculiarity of our system where we use iTunes and SoundStudio as our editing software, who knows how it might work for you - I just like the things to sound right so I add .4 of a second in front and 6 seconds of silence on the end so they will not be clipped by crossfading)

There you go!

Rick and all, Onion Radio News is syndicated in Canada by Orbyt. I wasn't able to find a similar distribution stateside, although there was at one time a link on the show's website for affiliate stations. It is funny, funny stuff!

Just subscribe to their podcast and get 'em that way.
