H. Carr: Hub Pol Who Duked it out with Jerry Williams buried

http://bostonherald.com/news/opinion/columnists/view.bg?articleid=1035634

"They’re burying Jack E. Molesworth this morning, and with him, a small but colorful bit of Boston radio history.
Molesworth was probably the first and definitely the last guy to attack a Boston radio talk-show host during a broadcast, and to engage in a knock-down, drag-out brawl with the host while the air went dead for five or 10 minutes, depending on which paper you read. The host was Jerry Williams. The radio station was WMEX. The year was 1962."

Yup, it was at the old WMEX studio next to Fenway Park.
I heard Jerry tell the story many times that as he was laying on the floor he yelled to his producer [ who I think is now at WBUR ] "Call The Boston Globe."

They don't make talk radio that way anymore.

Beginning to think that the older Howie Carr gets the more he appreciates the work of his predecessor Jerry Williams.

Perhaps, Howie can get one of the Bulger Boys to attack him if and when he ever gets behind a microphone again. ;)
