According to CharityWatch.org the Hannity concerts "Freedom Alliance" (founded by Ollie North in 1990) spends only a small fraction of their money on scholarships...most going to anti-UN activity etc...

Does it matter which good cause the money goes to, so longs as it is the money is well spent?

freedom alliance won't release numbers to charity ratings groups...salvation army, united way do....the california AG's office is investigating

Perhaps Hannity's group gives money to all the millions of people made orphans by the stupid actions of the UN?

off topic but ...in some states -like new mexico -a guard member's family gets $400,000 if they die while serving...if they opt for the optional insurance...in addition some states have reduced or free tuition for war orphans at state colleges....so if Hannity wants to turn troops families into charity cases ..I don't care ...see you at the patriotic pity party

Yes. It matters if a non-profit tells donors it is raising money for one thing and then spends the money on something else.

To the liberal haters of talk radio it does.

I disagree. Bill O Reilly's 'investigation' into the 9-11 funds started this ball rolling.. BOR sells his books and gives the $$$ to 'charity', so he has a nice cover, but honestly, he wants people to read his scribe and so he uses the 'charity cover' as well. He doesnt need/want the $$, but it's a powerful tool to disarm critics with. Like Micheal Moore using 9-11 responders~ he did a 'charitable' act, but at what cost? So he can use it in his movie. If you criticize him for it, then he will say ' what, you want these American heroes to suffer? '

I like the Glenn Beck model. Throw a big rally and give 100% to the USO. Make the affiliates and Premier pick up the per diem. Then you dont have to sweat the petty stuff ( and get back to petting the sweaty stuff ) ;)

It matters if people are attending these concerts thinking that the money is going to a specific charity when it is in fact going to another. While the person buying the ticket may not have a problem where the money goes there should be some truth in advertising.

In NY State, it's illegal to state money intended for one charity ends up going somewhere else. We have strict disclosure laws here. Sounds like it may be time to drop an e-mail to Mr. Cuomo, our Attorney General, for an investigation.

it is probably a good event but whether it is PBS NPR etc raising money or Hannity. how much goes to cause is important..
