Happy New Year to all...and happy birthday to WNYG!

Just before heading out for the usual end of year partying, I stopped to put up the Fybush 2008 calendar in the office and noticed that WBAB/WNYG signed on for the first time on 1/1/1958.

Say what you will about the little station on 1440, but it's still there and still serving its community after fifty years.

Best to all,

CJ

Yeah, but it really isn't serving anything anymore except special interests... and hasn't since 2000.. and full time since the early 1990's. 50 years old, I doubt there will even be an on air mention or any type of broadcast to remember the event.

The days of it being the breeding ground for Jack FM have passed :D

Ha! Did you notice in the picture of Bruce Tria in the NYTimes that he uses OTS?

Hey, only the best and most reliable playback. We use it at WSHR as well. We had a total system crash, and OTS stayed on the air and kept going while the PC was in the blue screen of death. I've had OTS going at home now for 6 months without a problem. It also works with Vista even though they say it won't (we had it on a laptop over the weekend... you just need to futz with the soundcard calibration setting in the OTS setup menu to get it to work right).

WRIV does a great job with OTS, and I think WLNG uses it as well. Doing a shift at RIV is a snap with OTS... you're basically using 3 pots... PC, Mic and News.

WSHR Sachem? I was on the air there at it's inception, with Mr. Fearns(Ferns?) at the helm,a trillion years ago...
