Harrison Ford is on the loose! Tommy Lee Jones is in hot pursuit.

If you can't call this a train wreck, there's nothing you can call a train wreck.

"Union of the Snake" Duran Duran
"Ferry Cross the Mersey" Gerry and the Pacemakers
"Panama" Van Halen

I ate lunch at Arby's last Wednesday.

In case it has escaped your notice, we don't care about train wrecks anymore, now that we know the audience doesn't care either.

I cannot fathom why it matters where you ate lunch.

Would you say that was a discovery by the Jack-FM consultants? Or even before them?

I don't know that it was specific research by those consultants or not, but that format did begin to prove that train wrecks are far from being the turn-off we always thought they were.

Of course, many outside the business still cling to the theory that they are, but they lack the real world perspective.

Opinion about this one?

"I Can't Stop Loving You" Ray Charles followed by "Magic Man" by Heart.

I seriously couldn't believe that first one was on the station I listened to in the car.

I think you should probably stop listening. Everything seems to irritate you, and the programming's never going to go back to what you want.

You fall into that category of "listeners who cannot be satisfied" by programmers and consultants.

While that one song makes me change stations, if there is another station to change to (power lines were really bad), this station I am referring to plays a surprising number of what I consider good songs, many of which I didn't like to begin with. But "Magic Man" starts with a very annoying guitar and just gets worse from there.

And yet it tests well, especially with Classic Rock listeners.

I am more convinced than ever, Chimp, that you want something we aren't going to deliver, and even those formats/stations that come close are going to continue evolving away from your personal tastes.

One popular FM is propping up another station I listen to in the car, but I was too far east for a good signal. There are no bad songs on the station I like in the car. But I had to listen to the other station which plays only some good songs.

I don't like trainwrecks, and on my various playlists, I try to avoid them.

But, they still happen from time to time. And I sometimes cringe when I hear them.

I'm probably with @vchimpanzee in the "listeners who cannot be satisfied" group to some extent. I got to the point where I was so dissatisfied with what was on the radio, I decided to make my own station to listen to.

vchimp sampled some of my efforts awhile back, and he actually liked it for the most part. Am I on to something? Who knows. But if I can have a satisfied audience of 1, I'm happy.

I have posted a list of songs that would go in the ideal standards format, and while someone commented that it was complete, it was far from complete as I have added many more.

I also listed what would be called my fantasy Pod for oldies and AC, which couldn't possibly be a radio format. It also does not include standards or country.

Where would be a good place for me to share these lists with you?

You can PM me, if you like, and we can take it from there!

We can compare notes; I have a feeling there will be a fair amount of overlap.

I mean, there are probably some differences, too. For example, I like the Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood duet "Some Velvet Morning" and, as I recall, you don't, but that's fine! If everyone liked everything all the time, life would get too boring!

And five minutes after I sent it I heard a song I needed to add. Don't know why "Call Me" by Chris Montez wasn't there to begin with. It was Peggy Lee's version I heard, but there are so many versions on this online radio station I have to choose one or two.

I keep being told to limit my responses to no more than 10000 characters. I don't know how much will go in each message.
Wow, you've compiled quite a list!

I like Chris Montez' "The More I See You."

I'm pretty sure I've heard his version of "Call Me", but I can't remember when or where.

Are we related somehow? :D

I just reviewed your list (split over 4 parts, likely due to the 10,000 character limit), and it's so similar to mine it's astonishing! Including some relatively obscure records that I was pretty sure hardly anyone else knew of, let alone heard.

If I ever get around to getting a properly licensed stream going (which, for such a small time operation, isn't insurmountable with streaming services that cover the licensing, such as Live365 and the like), I have a feeling you would be a very loyal listener!

Obscure records might be ones I heard on serenade Radio, or on WERT, which had a very unusual playlist when it still allowed people outside the area to stream.

This is starting to sound more like eavesdropping on a private conversation rather than on-topic posts for the thread. Just saying.
