Harry Hurley is going to have Rush's spot at 12 noon on WOND Radio. Leaving WENJ

Wow. As one of Don's producers during the big Atlantic City morning drive talk wars in the late 1990's this makes my little head a-splode. I never would have ever predicted Don and Harry sharing a frequency.

Yes, Pab, I'm sure you remember when Howard Green wouldn't even let him in the building to moderat a political debate on TV40! He had made some comments about the employees, the station, and Howard had a long memory.

I do remember. And it was a great example of taking the high ground. No one ever mentioned Harry on WOND, other than obliquely through a "sleepy dog" sound effect mocking one of Harry's nicknames for Don. Don won every book he was head to head with Harry.

It will be interesting to see what those two can achieve together.

Q:? Now, where's Rush going to land. He had the top ratings in the market for years, tying with WFPG-FM 12-3pm in MANY books. But it was a hard sell at a reasonable price. He is a gasbag. Is he staying on 1400, or will Beebe snatch it up for WIBG?

Rush is listenable through most of WOND's signal area on WPHT and/or WABC. It was always a three-way tug of war.

And ratings are secondary; the question becomes what can you bill for a show? Especially when you have a show that demands huge carriage fees like Rush.

I'll lay money that when contract renewal time came this year Premiere wanted a big bump in carriage fees and management finally figured that they could make more money with a lower-paid (even if lower rated, which is yet to be seen) Harry Hurley in that slot than Rush.
