WERT plays more standards and better standards, even if some of the AC garbage is worse.
This is nice, but it's generally the case that artists are listed alphabetically by last name. It would be hard to remember to look by first name.I still listen to WNAM's stream regularly and the music mix on America's Best Music has remained remarkably steady for the last five years or so. They still play a decent number of standards -- most by artists like Michael Buble, Linda Ronstadt, Harry Connick and more. And, of course, some of the classics are still played from Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin.

Not anymore. Sites like iTunes and Discogs alphabetize by however the artist's or band's name is written. This is easier to sort, and eliminates debate about what counts as a last name. For example, stage names (David Bowie, Billy Idol, Iggy Pop, etc.), group names that look like a person's name but aren't named after anyone in the group (Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper before he assumed the name for himself, etc.), and whether prefixes common in non-English names (de, van, von, etc.) count as part of the last name or not. This is nice, but it's generally the case that artists are listed alphabetically by last name.
I didn't realize that Alice Cooper was ever a group name, thank you!Not anymore. Sites like iTunes and Discogs alphabetize by however the artist's or band's name is written. That's new to me. However, my fantasy iPods which aren't real lists since they aren't lists of music I have, go in order by last name when there is one.Not anymore. Sites like iTunes and Discogs alphabetize by however the artist's or band's name is written
This makes sense and I do it.group names that look like a person's name but aren't named after anyone in the group (Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper before he assumed the name for himself, etc.),
I'm not sure about this.and whether prefixes common in non-English names (de, van, von, etc.) count as part of the last name or not.
That's one aspect where I depart with iTunes decision to skip over a/an. To me, that's a distinctive enough part of a group's name that "A Flock of Seagulls" and "A Taste of Honey" should be sorted under A, not S and T, respectively. Also, I decided to not include a, and or the when alphabetizing.
What are the abbreviations? I don't think I ever heard "A Little More Love" unless the automation quit and the news didn't come on.I still listen to WNAM's stream regularly and the music mix on America's Best Music has remained remarkably steady for the last five years or so.
