Has anybody heard of any changes coming to WHJY?

On a scale from 1-10 this being a 1 on reliability.Only a 1 because I was asked.this.
and the question came to me something like this.
"I hear HJY might be simulacasting another station soon and letting everyone go.Do you(meaning me)know anything about it?"
I told this person that they sometimes share Jocks and or shows with WHTB 100.3 in New Hampshire but I havent heard of anything else.

Is there anything there or is it just BS..I'm leaning towards the latter.But then again this is Clear Channel.

I don't think they have a HJY type rockformat with the "I heart Radio" networks they run on b101 or WSNE.

So who knows what those irresponsible bacciagalupes running that place have up their sleeves to get rid of whatever local talent that remains?
I honestly feel if this were to happen, it would finally be the radio event that would actually get some negative media attention & listener outrage.

And after media coverage and listener outrage where else would listeners go instead of HJY? BCN is gone, not that they were ever a threat. AAF is not a force in Providence. Those still inclined to listen to the radio would keep listening.. The station would suffer from no promotional presence if they had no local talent though.

With that said, 'HJY, while still an excellent-sounding radio station, is not what it was. I know I should not complain about voicetracking when 'HJY's cluster-mates do not get even that. But listening to Jenn's 3-second voice-tracked bits - "Here's Nickelback on 'HJY" - makes me long for the days of Amy Hagen. Remember when she used to talk for about three or four minutes at the end of a set. She would often be thumbing through a magazine, and share something interesting with the listeners. Remember when Jaxon, at night, would talk about some odd sex statistics that he came across. While Battle has an outstanding set of pipes, and Jenn plays the mid-day part well, how many times can we hear about concert dates?

A 3 - 4 minute break outside of AM Drive in a PPM world better be the most compelling radio EVER.

I don't know about Charles even although anyone listening during that slot is probably used to him. Stations are getting ready for PPM. You're going to have to accept that even the best of jocks really can't carry those long breaks. In cars, people will switch to another stations or device to hear something else. At home when they're not going to keep fiddling with the radio constantly they just won't bother with a station where the jock's breaks are longer than some of the songs.

I do not "pine for the good old daysfor the sake of the good old days." I pine for better, more interesting, and more compelling radio. Most people would agree that a jock reading a liner card that simply lists upcoming concerts is less interestng than a jock telling a story about a bank robber who gave the teller his ID before robbing the bank. I understand that stations are simply preparing for PPM - and cutting budgets in the meantime - but does anyone actually find the QUALITY of FM radio better than it was even five years ago?

All I do is hear people complain about how much radio sucks. It's a shell of what it used to be. Most jocks these days sound robotic. It's like someone zapped the personality out of them. But I don't really blame the jocks so much. It's the management that tells people how to run their show. Ryan Seacrest's station in LA even told him to talk less! Well ok..... Less talk and limited playlists sure make for some boring radio. But if it's boring radio these companies want, it's boring radio that they've now got. I hope they are all happy.

I dont talk to Troll to much and Chris Dipaola as much as I love the guy is mentally stuck inside a bubble and still thinks its 1988 and is busy with his 1230 AM WBBBBBBLQ project.

You claim "most people would agree...blah, blah. blah", but PPM results do NOT support that, plain and simple.

Ten years ago.HJY was a very personalty driven. I don't even listen now.

Ten years ago partly because I was more into new rock then and am not now. I don't even know who the new rockers they play are unless they're new releases by artists that have been around a while. New groups aren't really all that popular but AOR stations have to play something new so they reach while they wait for new stuff by familiar artists. As far as personalities, Paul and Al are still there with more of a pared down show and Charles is still doing his thing. Everything else is generic, which is the way radio is going, but you don't expect it from HJY. I rarely listen except in small doses. Part of it is the morning show humor is what made them but it's almost a throwback like watching some bad 80's comedy movie you thought was funny back then.

They sound like robots because they are voice tracked. They are running these stations on PC playlists basically. Chalk me up to one of those who cannot stand what radio has become. Lit it keep going on this track, they make the satalite stations (sirius-XM) sound better and better.

Seems that most people are complaining that he takes to many days off and that he has just turned Lazy. Not doing funny bits like he once did and just relying on his crew to come through for him so that he can do even less. His fan message boards have for the most part turned into hate message boards. It's amazing to see. He is still the best thing on Radio. But it's just not the same anymore. My girlfriend has him on constantly. She listens more than I do these days. That's cool. I always wanted an open minded girl with a great sense of humor. If you date someone who likes Stern you can be guaranteed that at least they arnen't uptight. We spend a lot of time laughing together with the show. But I have to be honest. Howard is no longer on top like he used to be. You have to go back to the mid to late 90's to get Stern at his peak. These days it seems like he is just coasting till the ride ends so that he can finally get off.
