has anyone ever been asked for an on air audition for pt work in harrisburg?

I found it comical that I was asked by an fm in harrisburg to do an on air audition. I declined due to the fact I worked in major markets and the the worst thing i was asked to do in phila. was to go into the production room and do a few front sells and back sells to verify it was my voice. number 78 market asking for an on air audtion...what a freaking joke!!!

Superiority complex aside, working in a big market doesn't mean as much as it used to in this day in age. Anyone can voicetrack a good shift. Were you part time or full time in this large market? Personally I would hire someone who has a great live on-air persona regardless of where they were from. What stations are you referring to? Being that I don't know I really can't say. Should an audition CD speak for itself? ...What if you faked the CD?
______________

I remember having to polish Sam Buca's shoes the day i went to do my on-air check. Alas, I left some Kiwi on the strings, and now I'm back to copy writing. That's the breaks..........

Last guy to come around shinin' shoes did it on Casual Friday..And ruined my flip flops. But my feet look deliciously tan in stark constrast to my blindingly pale thighs..

Somebody told me a long time ago that nobody is too good to audition for a job. Pro sports stars always work out for a team before they sign as free agents. I don't think it's so crazy for you to do an audition shift. Did you ever think that your heavy hitting resume comes with the stigma attached that you have an ego? Maybe asking for an audition shift was a simple test from the PD to see if you were going to come in and be a good fit for the station or an ego maniac. If that was the test, I don't think you passed it.

It's your life and your career, but if you are shopping around for a part time radio gig, it seems to be very obvious that you aren't working full time. Those out of work have little time to be picky.

Also, if you have the talent, and audition isn't an audition. It's your first shift.

oh come on cb. i make more than some vp's of radio groups. audition for a stinking $8 and hour. you gotta be joking. i do it for fun and that is a sad state of affairs. now if they pay $100 an hour that's a different story. i would be happy to audition on air.

If it was WHYL, I personally know that Sam grills each and every jock whom he is considering for on air with a audition and critique that would make Simon on Idol squirm into a ball crying for his mother.

But, when you're the best, you can do that.

(sam, do I still have to wash and wax your car this weekend ?? or was that good enough)

Ha. I suck on the air...that's why I'm better suited (and hopefully have a long career) in behind-the-scenes work.

My 3 guesses:

1) CC
2) Cumulus
3) WIOO
______________
