Has your DXing hobby ever been a part of any dreams you've had?

I had some dreams-more like nightmares- about moving to neighborhoods near FM towers. I used to live near the tuning-fork shaped tower just outside the DC area's I-495 beltway (WMAL 105.9 and WJFK 106.7 use this tower). Even the shape of this tower was in one of my dreams. Recent dream was using a vintage pocket AM radio with a pot that controls the sensitivity of the lower part of the AM dial, somewhat like a preselector. And this radio had bad selectivity when receiving local stations.

Hi - I'm an Australian but once I had a dream I was visiting the US & was tuning around on someone's radio & heard the ID "WLW".. Imagine my surprise when I looked up a list & saw that WLW actually exists! For the record, I've never visited the US & although I've heard many US MW stations over here, I've never received WLW :( 700khz cops too much splatter from 2BL 702.

DXER2, what is the farthest east MW station you have received from the US?

Most distant = 1030 WBZ Boston MA (once heard it strong enough to hear using the 6khz wide AM filter on my Kenwood R-5000)
Low powered = 1570 KVTK Vermillion SD
Best GY catch = 1400 WFTL Ft Lauderdale FL

KVTK in Australia? Fantastic! That station is on my wanted list, they run 500w day which I might be able to pull off near sunrise, since CKMW is off now (YAY!) I mainly get XERF and KCVR on 500W night, but there's several threshold carriers to the ENE on most nights. KBCV in MO is also on my wanted list for 1570, as is KPIO in CO.

Art Vuolo knew a lot of the people at WSDS 1480 Ypsilanti back in the 1960s, when it was a 500 watt daytimer, and he said they got a DX report from Australia. Back in those days, a lot of fulltime stations signed off around midnight. Not sure if it was an equipment test or DX test during the experimental period, or if it was from normal daytime operation.

Sorry for the resurrection, but I've had a few dreams about DXing to date. A few months ago, I had a dream that I was living in central Connecticut not far from the Long Island Sound listening to WBAI with a somewhat, but not horribly staticy signal which was stunting with an automated jockless classic rock format identifying itself simply as "BAI". However, chances are, the dream was just about the station itself, it's flamethrower signal, and finally, the mediocrity of the tuner in the radio. The setting of the dream was my real life kitchen with my real life Sony kitchen radio (manufactured in 2007). About a week or two ago, I dreamt about receiving Miami's WBGG (Big 105.9) on my Grundig S350 DL radio either via long haul tropospheric ducting or E skip.

Guess what? WBGG might come true for you next year. E-skip could pull in WBGG if the MUF is 108 to FL.
