Have you seen this 1998 TLC Reality special on Behind the Scenes at KCBS

I'd like to see a behind the scenes for KABC 7. IIRC it was there where Paul Moyer accused Ann Martin of boozing it up between the evening & late news, warning her she could end up with Harold Greene (which IIRC is what happened on KCBS). It was (and is) interesting clicking thru the other channels and finding former KABC staff.

Thanks for posting the documentary, recto101! Quite an interesting view.

A lot has changed at the station. Most impressed with Gretchen Carr. The others...not so much. No wonder CBS cleaned house.

I'm shocked at how formal those people in the newsroom were dressed. Why in the world are the newsroom people wearing dress shoes? Good grief. With all that running, they should be in sneakers.

One more thing: Was the weather guy wearing bicycle shorts ON THE AIR?!?

Yes he did. But after this KCBS started getting more Anchors from KABC7 News like Paul Dandridge, Laura Diaz, Johnny Mountain, Mark Coogan, Harold Greene.

At the time of the filming Harvey Levin left to do Peoples court and Bob Tur Faded in the chopper blades.

Gretchen Carr she did dual duty for CBS News and CBS 2 News at this point.

Actually, I believe they did a mini-documentary on it in 1990 (when Jim Hill spent a few years at KABC before he returned to KCBS).

But of course, the big change since 1998: KCBS and KCAL would become sister stations and they would move out of Columbia Square and into their current digs in Studio City. And ratingswise, KCBS is once again #2 between KABC and KNBC.
