Mike Walker said:My wife tore down my 200' long-wire antenna in the woods behind my house that I used for AM and Shortwave. I don't really care. I can get everything I want to listen to (including all the international broadcasters I like) on my Revo Blik internet radio.
See if you can talk her into a "K9AY Loop", which will fit into less than a 20 foot radius. I built one a couple of years ago and it does a great job from longwave up through the AM band to 40 meters. I have three loops on a common fiberglass mast, separated in azimuth by 60 degrees. The null on each can be flipped 180 degrees, which gives me a choice of six directional "cardioid" patterns.

I listen to a lot of internet radio too, but I think it's still important to maintain a system of long-distance communications that doesn't rely on fiber or coax networks, giant telecom corporations, or digital electronic components which must be imported from overseas.
