HD Radio has a new life, thanks Crutchfield

Whew, was I worried. For awhile there I thought HD radio was doomed because it didn't appear in the Crutchfield catalogue. I figured next I'd have to take my HD radios to a central location and turn them in. Was I relieved to see that HD radio has made an appearence in the holiday 2007 Crutchfield catalogue at 2 count 'em 2 locations (I guess Crutchfield didn't get the word that HD radio was doomed because the neysayers have spoken). They have radios for sale on page 65 & 110 (Uh Oh, I just read that they have 10 HD car radios for sale. (Desperate times call for desperate messures men!! Time to spread the rumor that HD radio contains weapons of mass destruction)

Now that's just plain silly, isn't it?

But we might try and let everyone know that the AM system doesn't work worth a darn and should probably be abandoned before anyone spends their hard-earned dollars on a radio that sounds like garbage.

Some day you & I will meet. On that day we will make plans for you to hear an HD demo. Either using my Receptor (It works well in Stony Point, NY, which is right on the Orange county line) or better yet over one of my Sangean tuners. I think you'll be surprised. While I am not thrilled with low bit rate digital codecs, I'd be lying if I said that HD doesn't sound world better than XM radio. When I first heard XM I was shocked that anyone would pay for such miserable sound.

I thought HD radio was in Crutchfield all along --- I wonder what their Christmas sales of HD radio have been like?
