Hearst Television named as a candidate to get WBBH-TV Fort Myers

If this deal is approved then WBBH would be co-owned with WESH-TV and WPBF-TV the other Hearst owned stations in Florida.

Hearst has agreed to acquire NBC affiliate WBBH Fort Myers-Naples, Fla., from Waterman Broadcasting, subject to regulatory approvals. WBBH also broadcasts the Heroes & Icons network on a subchannel. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Under the transaction, Hearst will assume Waterman Broadcasting’s programming relationship with Montclair Communications Inc., owner of WZVN, the market’s ABC affiliate. WZVN also broadcasts the MeTV and Dabl networks on its subchannels.

u forgot WKCF and WMOR but this is an interesting deal buying 2 shared stations in a relatively small market but how they gonna operate the soon to be Very SWFL if they sometime compete in some timeslots. But now that leaves WINK/WXCW as one of the last independent owners and a strong contender to EW Scripps owned Fox station WFTX.

The title on this thread is a bit misleading since Hearst is the only company mentioned in the article. So its not a candidate, its a purchase.

too bad, I liked the way Waterman ran those stations... I spend 7 months a year in that area, and the other 5 I am in an area where I get both WCVB Boston and WMUR Manchester and their news/local programming is really left leaning which is not going to fly in Lee County

Add to that the "editorials" Hearst runs after the news annoy me to no end.

u mean "Commitment" for election coverage

WMUR's version of Hearst's graphics now copied to WZVN.

What will WBBH look like this both below?

I know most of Hearst's stations using callsign letters in their marketing but it did made an exception to WPTZ/WNNE so it's gonna be the same as WBBH and WZVN.
