As I tap,...gent'lee rapping on my keyboard, Marv is coming off of a 3-day bender. He's not much on drinkin', but the ol' boy just couldn't accept the fact that Roy Clark was not invited to the iheart festival. It would seem that being a Broadcast Engineer, and your Dad owning a hardware store that disappointment couldn't Bodyslam, Soooflex, and Piledrive a man such the 1981 state bowling champ, but from where I sit,...Sheeesh...is head ever gonna hurt! Maybe it's just me, but I heard more than my share of hype for this past weekend's radio sponsored Whooop-tee-doo.
It's easy to assume that the CC suits all think that they have pulled a rabbitt out of a hat, but truthfully, to most of the acts, it's just another show; in Vegas. It's debateable as whether the FCC was on their toes, regarding all the rights on their platter, but rest asure that ASCAP & BMI had all their "i's" crossed, and their "t's" dotted, with waivers, disclaimers, and clauses neatly inbeded in all paperwork signed. Watch-Out!...it could be that conflict arises. In an eariler post, I asked a question, and I now feel that it bears repeating: Will an alleged airplay problem exist, if an artist was asked to perform, but refused. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? Boggles the mind,...don't it!

"Boggles the Mind" - yes, that does cross my mind at certain times I visit the SC discussion board. I often feel I need an interpreter to dissect certain posts. ???

Ahhhhhh, yes...eacalhoun1...some of the members of the Think Tank would simply say that you have FLUBBED in the fine art of discussion. Other members of the Think Tank would express that your keyboard drivel is about as welcome as a turd in a swimming pool. Your short, shallow, sprinkled with a thought, post, to me, smacks of that of a Consultant. It is not my fault that my post is longer than your post, but...there is no clear proof that you are a Pencilneck, Know Everything, Yet Know Nothing, Hung Like A Toddler, Hemroidal Consultant. So,...you are pardoned from a thorogh lashing with The Cat of Nine Shares. We, the Think Tank, were beginning a discussion about the iheart festival. Now, I can just sit back, and wait, but some of the members of the Think Tank might wanna take the time to pee in your Cherios.

Ya know as long as the post was Scooter might be on to something! Would be interesting to see if say Band A did not be apart of the show if the suits that be would say Hmmm let's dial this act down a notch. If that were to happen I could see a mega stink take place, but since it is Clear Channel I am sure it would just be swept under the rug and they would say They are just not popular on our stations... A 21st century version of "payolla"! Interesting very interesting...

Thanks Carroll, I'm glad that you see my point. For the other readers of this topic, let me shed a little light: When I worked for various FM's, I would promote the Live performances of Local, Regional, and National Acts. Sometimes I would book a Big name, and use the show to aid a charity. There is a big difference between "A Proceed" & "Proceeds".
For the Big names that played Vegas, their respective Booking Agents have an Established Price for that venue. If that figure was compromised to a lower amount, then both the FCC, and the IRS needs to know how & why. Also, if an act declined to play, their future airplay on CC stations should be monitored; monitored to see if that % is lower than the other Broadcast groups. Things need to be kept clean...or three years from now...something stinks, and Scooter Lesley Warned us all.
