Help take FM transmitters off the streets of South Florida: Deals on Craigslist

From the "Pirate Radio Capital" of the United States, here just a few deals on Craigslist-Miami right now. FM Exciters, processors, FM amplifiers, 250 watts, 500 watts or more, OMB, NICOM, and more. It would be great for licensed broadcasters to pick up deals on such equipment before it goes back into action and sold locally in South Florida. Here are just a few deals I found:

[edited because ranting online is rarely productive]

Why should we bother? We would be giving money to criminals and those in the Miami area who want to break the law will buy transmitters from eBay or unscrupulous retailers. Until the FCC makes persistent use of the in rem arrest laws that direct the US Marshalls to seize equipment and makes a policy requiring the issuance of a NAL rather than a NOUO for any instance of unlicensed broadcasting, the problem will not go away.

This is ancient history, but when I put 100 watts on 7.415 Mhz back in 1990-1991, I did not receive a NOUO, but rather a NAL.
As an unlicensed station, why would I have received a citation intended for licensed operations ?
Was there such a thing as a NOUO in 1991?
Or did the FCC change tactics in some way?

Perhaps this was because it was on an international broadcast band?
I did not receive the NAL until AFTER I was, er, visited by the FCC agents and Chicago Police.

They were a bit brusque until they realized I had hand-built a 1930's style transmitter, at which point they became
somewhat more relaxed. As much as I expected equipment seizure, it did not happen.
They promised it would if I returned to the air.
The NAL was received about a week later, for $1000. Seems like a bargain now, almost 20 years later.
Much more fun than wasting the money on a vacation or something foolish.
Ah, misspent youth.

Re: Help take FM transmitters off the streets of South Florida: Deals on Craigsl

The FCC won't do anything about a pirate on 96.5 interfering with a licensed 96.3 just 10 miles away...for at least 4 years!
Who listens to 7.415 anymore? Chances are, if you had 10000 watts on 7.415 today, you would stay on the air for years to come.
Might be better off complaining to Craigslist to get the items removed. Those transmitters for sale probably are unfiltered, and will produce spurs all over the dial, and even in the aviation band above 108 mHz. Pilots don't want to hear Carribean music instead of air traffic control.
With proper filters, maybe those transmitters could be a good backup transmitter for a <1000 watt licensed station, but don't give money to the criminals by buying their stuff.

Craigslist? You should see what's on eBay!

But seriously, pirate radio will only get bigger as the (licensed) corporate conglomerates implode even deeper. Cause and effect. The system is broken and as long as the government keeps sucking up to corporate behemoths, people WILL rebel. I don't agree with breaking the law, but sometimes civil disobedience is the only way to get a message through. If Rosa Parks just did as she was told and went to the back of the bus, I shudder to think where we would be today.......

It's just pirate radio, it's not like selling crack to five year olds. Not even close......

But pirate operations interfere with corporate radio's ability to protitute itself. That's just unacceptable! How dare anyone interfere with a license to print money for a few favors. OHHHHthe humanity!!!
