Herald: 98.5 host Felger in hot water over sex poll

thanks to Mark S of BRW for tip

>>A local sports radio host has come under fire for touting an online polling game that asks men which high-profile, Boston female news anchor - Maria Stephanos, Sara Underwood or Bianca de la Garza - they would wed, bed or kill.

Underwood = Mrs. Felger. Stephanos was runner up (behind Col. Hunt) of the election for
President of Howie Nation.
(Hmm. Maybe in a way we DO have WEEI on FM now :) )

Barstool sports links to a youtube video with the following under it:

>>And this my friends is why The Sports Hub is kicking the (bleep) out of WEEI lately. This was handled perfectly by Felger and Mazz. Very funny stuff. (Felger and Mazz Talk About
Marry F--- Kill)

has the YouTube link

Felger refers to his wife as "The Wood". "She's getting killed"

Only heard part of it but it looks like CBS really has a very classy operation going. I can
see why they're cleaning up in the ratings. ;D

When does Howie do the topic "Who would you like to see naked on TV" again? :)
Of course this could benefit 98.5; controversy might drive people to check out the show now.
(Married...With Children prob got more viewers after a preacher urged people to boycott it!)

So where is the feigned outrage? Why aren't people pretending to be deeply offended by this sort of thing and screaming for Felger's head as they did when D&C made their Metco remark? Could it be that Felger is not a right-wing conservative in a blue state?

Remember when Howard Cossell made a remark about a little monkey and people wanted him fired. As far as I can tell Howard Cossell was not a racist, he may even be considered by many as a civil rights champion. Yet there were a lot of people who didn't like Howard, because he was pompous and abrasive, who pretended to be deeply offended and called him a racist, even though nothing could be further from the truth.

I can't stand Felger. I could pretend to be outraged over this remark just because I don't like him, but it wouldn't be the truth.

What is the problem? Felger made light out of a light situation involving his wife. It was a five minute throw away bit in their show. I was happy to hear him have a sense of humor over it. That corny Mary F Kill game has been around since those three words have been around. Relax.

people who didn't like Howard
That was pretty much everybody. People watched him but those who had to deal with him didn't ----to put it mildly--- care much for him. Ask Giff.

listening to the likes of Dennis Miller or Tony Kornheiser or John Gruden in recent years makes me appreciate Howard that much more. As someone said, he was a civil rights champion and took unpopular stances like supporting Ali when he was stripped of his title and the two Olympic athletes who had their medals revoked when they gave the black power salute on the victory stand. Yes, he was pompous and full of himself but he was also unique and, when Dandy Don died last week and they showed clips from the 70s, it reminded of how lame MNF's announcing team has become.

Felger and Mazz is by far the best show on the Hub and the best sports radio show in Boston, period. I didn't hear the bit but it sounds like Felgy handled it the right way, with a sense of bemusement.
