Herald: Eagan & Braude re-up with WTKK; Howie tied for #1 in 25-54

http://www.bostonherald.com/busines...39&format=&page=2&listingType=biz#articleFull

Jessica Heslam says that WTKK has re-signed Eagan and Braude, dashing WRKO's hopes to lure
them to the morning show in place of Finneran

>>Sources say the “lucrative” deal is for a guaranteed five years but the pair’s agent and attorney, George Tobia, wouldn’t confirm the length or salary.

In the most recent 25-54s, she reports, Howie tied with Kiss for #1 in 25-54s, perhaps due to
election interest; Severin was in third. Finneran finished 15th in his time slot (Imus 10th)

So does this mean that Ordway was in fourth place?

"Jessica Heslam says that WTKK has re-signed Eagan and Braude "
I guess Two Chicks Dishing is popular enough with people who don't have jobs.

You may not have liked Two Chicks Dishing, but it was the best attempt I've heard of a talk station reaching out to younger listeners with entertaining stuff. Darlene and that other girl were never a decent replacement, perhaps that's what you're thinking of.

What do you have against them? I'm a younger person (23) and they're my favorite talk show hosts on WTKK.

Michael Graham is f'n insufferable. He uses the appeal to emotion logical fallacy so much that it makes my ears bleed. His mind just seems closed to any new ideas. It's really annoying.

Jay Severin is a good entertainer and isn't closed-minded like Graham. Sometimes he goes off the deep end with his hatred for democrats, but I can deal with it. ha

And who else....Michelle Mcphee? She's okay, I guess...

Eagan and Braude appeal to me because they talk about more than just their hatred for the other political party. Sometimes Eagan says things that annoy me (she obviously isnt a fan of atheists and agnostics) and i wish jim would stick up for himself more in that regard..(he's an agnostic) but they still entertain me. And believe me, most people my age do not listen to talk radio. So they're doing something right.

I'm guessing that WBUR with its 6.1 is in 4th, with WEEI likely in 5th.

That having been said, racist talk radio dominates the top 5 in afternoons as usual (Howie #1, Jay #3 and the Big Schmo at #5).

Criticizing the policies of an incoming president who is half-black is racist? Then surely I can say liberal
talk radio was racist to constantly criticize the outgoing President, who, like me, is a Caucasian. (And many conservative hosts criticized Mr Bush's policies, too, such anti-white hosts as Michael Savage, Howie
Carr, and Laura Ingraham.) Did Jay
say that "wattymelon" was being served at the Inauguration? Did Howie refer to Barack's "mammy"?
Are Dennis and Callahan joking about...well, you get the idea. If you call them racist, please give specifics.
Otherwise it's just a non-supported argument.
Were these hosts saying people shouldn't have voted for him because he's black, or because of his policies
and qualifications?

I just put this post on another board, thought I'd share with you as well.

I don't know where Jessica got her numbers from.
The 25-54 numbers I saw have Howie tied for #3 with WTKK during his first hour and tied for #2 with Kiss 108 the rest of his show!

She got 'em from the usual place: Entercom's PR department.

"And who else....Michelle Mcphee? She's okay, I guess..."

I liked Michelle when she first came on--her voice annoyed me but it was okay because she was fun. Now she just whines and whines and says the same things over and over (like Jay!) So 3pm to 10pm is a repetitive whiny fest. At least Eagan and Braude are fun and don't seem to take themselves too seriously.

She does seem a lot angrier these days..

Severin and Mcphee never make me laugh. Neither does Michael Graham. That guy was really a comedian? But Eagan and Braude like to have a good time. I really don't understand why so many people dislike them. You should read the comments for Eagan's articles on Bostonherald.com. These people hate her so much but continue to listen to her radio show and read her articles. People love to hate, don't they? haha

So, tonight Ms. Mcphee is complaining because the parents of the student who died after the Celtics won the championship are not happy with the outcome of the police investigation. No matter who was at fault should she really be saying that the parents of the dead student aren't taking responsibility "for raising a moron?" Even the police report said he died of natural causes, not being a moron.

Don't forget about the firemen. They run a close second to the police in that special place in her heart.

I forgot to mention that right after she ripped the parents of that dead student, a listener calls in from California to say that she absolutely agrees with everything Michelle had said. As they are talking, it becomes clear that the caller is a personal friend. When Michelle goes on to mention on of the caller's kids by name, the caller says, "oh, are we off the air now?" No wonder she agreed with Michelle, she's her buddy.

Smoke may usually be right, but not always. Jessica's usual source isn't Entercom's PR Dept (which would be Regan Communications, actually), it's Howie. She laps up everything he feeds her and prints it whether it is true, half true or false.
