Herald: Howie Carr helps distraught woman on-air

Note: while Heslam's article refers to the event as happening "yesterday" I think it was
actually on Monday or Tuesday's show

>>In a stunning on-air admission, “Carol” revealed that she swallowed 100 pills in a suicide attempt last February when she was about to lose her home.

http://bostonherald.com/news/region...help_heard_by_Howie_Carr/srvc=home&position=0

A Maine woman who had attempted suicide in the past called Howie's show and confessed
to him that the bad economy had made her distraught. An agent from Maine's Drug Enforcement Agency
heard the call and officers were dispatched to the woman's home

radio-info was quoted:
>>“When people are pushed into extreme situations they look for a lifeline, and that can be a favorite radio personality,” said Tom Taylor, news editor of Radio-Info.com.

Humble Howard--and written by "Howie's secretary" Jessica :) (I referred to her that way during
the WRKO/WTKK tussle over who got Howie; seems like any info about the situation from Howie's
perspective conveniently got out through her. Hmm...

btw speaking of Howie, and in particular one of his enemies,Tom Leykis is being dropped by Westwood One, though is doing good in L.A. I remember when
he was on WRKO and I met him briefly when he did an appearance/remote at the Liberty Tree Mall.
So a couple weeks later I open up the Herald and see the bit about Tom's marital squabble just after
the WRKO Christmas Party (Howie refers to it as "mistaking his wife for a Duraflame log"). Now really,
who could have gotten that info to the Track Gals? :)

Will the Samaritans be employing Howie now...? (In all seriousness though, I'm glad Howie was able
to help the woman.)

Quoting Mr Racoon "speaking of Howie, and in particular one of his enemies,Tom Leykis is being dropped by Westwood One, though is doing good in L.A. "

Considering the financial shape of Westwood One ( stock symbol WWON, currently trading at EIGHT CENTS A SHARE!) I think TT is only the first of many to be leaving. I'll miss the Beatles show they produce if they go under

Interesting thread on one of the other R-I boards, with a link to TMZ where it appears Howie's nick name for Leykis "Tubby Tom" sure does fit.

That was nice of the Herald to print that free advertisement for their columnist's radio show.

She gets extra bonus checks from Pat Purcell, Entercom and Howie if she references Carr's name in her column at least 50 times a year. I think she's already on number 49 for this year. She doesn't even put a full disclosure thing before writing about Lazy Howie every week. Shameless.

Howie's talking about it now and he swears he didn't shop the story to papers, etc.
(About to play call.)

He probably forgot all about her call until an MDEA agent/Howie listener tipped the Herald with the big hero *story* a whole week later. Humble Howie The SuperHero is trying to pull his Sully version of Miracle on WRKO. Just doing my job crap.
