Herald I-Track: Trupiano may be gone from Sox radio

Yeah, the Dodgers have Nomar, Billy Mueller, Derek Lowe...and maybe someone else, can't think from memory..

And yes, Duke Castiglione is Joe's son.

yes Duke Castiglione has been on NY TV and radio covering Yankees, etc. (btw his dad grew up in Conn. as a Yankee fan). And for those who remember Ken Coleman, continued prayers for his son Casey who was diagnosed
with pancreatic cancer a year ago (a newspaper article from last June had Casey
saying his doctor has given him about six months to live)

don't forget effin' grady little. now, you know the dodgers have no shot in the playoffs.

Trupiano is a lot better than Castiglione. Bring back McDonough full time! Put him on RKO!

Yeah, I would agree. I've heard trup come off with some VERY clever lines during a game, he is more observant than Joe is, and knows how to "cover" for Joe when he makes a mistake. I'm really going to miss him next year.

there's no crying in baseball. i am not shedding any tears for trup. he didn't bring any fun
to the broadcast. get someone young and obnoxious in there like ryen russillo or jon metaparel to stir something up. three hours in a slow game seems like forever on 85-degree night sitting in traffic on 93. trup just didn't know how to fill the time in a clever and witty way. no big loss for sure.

This is from an article in the Worcester Telegram and Gazzette from Thursday, the 28th:

http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060928/NEWS/609280576/1009

Off the field, longtime radio broadcaster Jerry Trupiano was seething over a report in the Boston Herald that said he has been told he will not be back next season, with former Sox public relations boss Glenn Geffner replacing him.

“A bald-faced, (expletive) lie,” Trupiano said, adding that he has not heard one way or another if he will be return.

I emailed you for an aircheck but haven't heard back. Have you gotten anything?

I taped the Sunday game on a C-120 (well, from 3rd inning on)...with Little Walter coming on toward the end.

want an aircheck, contact me at [email protected] (I _would_ post it online but somehow
that restriction MLB has on "broadcasts, rebroadcasts..." might apply to the Net...but who knows). I could
dub it as a cass. or some other way

cough*www.sendspace.com*cough... to share it with this group...

Well I'll have to hook it up to record it and I'm busy with other stuff and traveling soon but maybe I'll at least do a clip of the end where Joe reads the Giamatti piece and says goodbye to Jerry...

well Torre has done radio in the past...done color for CBS Radio baseball coverage...but WCBS would never get rid of Mr It Is High, It Is Far, It Is Gone

I heard something about WCBS' deal with the Yanks expiring after this season.
Nonetheless, I think Jon Sterling will go wherever the team winds up. He was with them before the CBS contract.
He has a very different way of calling a ball game from what Boston is used to, but he's become associated with the Yankees the way Johnny Most used to be with the Celtics, or the way Curt Gowdy was with the Red Sox.
