Herald: Stolen laptop--Greater Media emp. personal info stolen

http://business.bostonherald.com/businessNews/view.bg?articleid=165302

"Greater Media Inc. recently began alerting employees that their personal information might have landed in thieving hands. The radio broadcasting company has sent out letters warning that a laptop holding Social Security numbers of current and former staffers was stolen out of Greater Media’s Philadelphia offices, sources who have received the letter said."

According to the letters so far there's been no incidents of illegal activities going on w/ the stolen info
and the company is providing free credit reports to employees if they sign up before the end of the yr.

interesting to note that the laptop contained not just current employee data, but even those of us no longer in their employ. i've been out since '02 and got one of their notifications.

Yikes--hopefully nobody will suffer any damage/fraud from this, whether past or present employees. Scary when these kind of slipups happen but at least they're offering the free credit reports, just in case some thievery might
be going on
