Here's why Canada's "Little Mosque on the Prairie" will never be seen on USA TV

Re: Here's why Canada's "Little Mosque on the Prairie" will never be seen on USA TV

There were alot of good American series on Canadian television that either were never seen or had very short lives in the US. "Corner Gas" and "Royal Canadian Air Farce" are a couple of examples in which they were seen on US TV, but briefly.

Times like this that we wish the CBC re-enters the American cable scene -- "Trio" and "Newsworld International" are sorely missed.

This is a 500 channel Universe today! There is no excuse for not, at the very least, making the CBC available to Americans...even if it means the channel is burried somewhere deep in the channel line up to remain barely noticed. (like many TV channels are already...)

Honestly, American Broadcasters are behaving like it's some kind of threat that will take business away from them!

There is actually a rather beautiful mosque rising up from the cornfields south of Toledo, Ohio.
It takes you by surprise as it is absolutely the last thing you'd expect to see in such a place.
(what, did I get lost and take the Baghdad exit??)

I think such a show would be doomed because it would be unable to portray Muslims in a realistic light.
Portrayals of the radical ones would bring down the hail of condemnations by CAIR and related groups,
while sympathetic portrayals of them as average folks would bring charges of kowtowing and sucking-up
to those very same groups. I doubt any network wants to be caught in that tug-of-war.

I think I saw that mosque, which was built I think in the 1970s or 1980s -- it's located south of Toledo in Perrysburg, near where I-75 and I-475 / US 23 meet. Our family passes by it on out travels between Michigan and Florida.

Apparently, the show is very successful in Canada, as Canadians are generally a more-tolerant people than Americans.
