Hey Cumulus Nashville! Have you considered Radio Disney? (seriously!)

Met with some folks here recently connected with the Hannah Montana movie. Conversation turned to a lengthy discussion of the wicked promotional machine that is Disney. We all decided that for the big dollar-spending, family-oriented area that is greater Nashville, there's a major hole here that the Radio Disney could fill nicely and line the pockets of the station/cluster that would air the format.

You don't need an air staff, you just borrow news and weather from another station, and simply hire a good promotions director and voiceover person for the station. Apparently there's a killing to be made off of all the family event tie-ins, private schools, parent magazines, sporting events, etc., in a place like Nashville and the surrounding counties where big $$$$ are spent on kids. And everything Disney touches builds buzz for you, in the same way it does for all of the Disney properties!

Yeah, it's mostly programmed on AM, but it would be great for a couple of lower power FMs such as 106.7 or 97.1, either one of which could use their first winning format. It would probably never come close to competing in the top 5, but it can be a real money machine in the right market with the right promotions director. And the family lifestyle of Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Hendersonville, Bellevue, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Mt. Juliet, Hermitage, etc., says this is the RIGHT market.

I dont know about 97.1, but I think 106.7 is making big $$$s even with a 1 share, (and without the overhead of Plaz et al.) which is more than Radio Disney would ever pull.

I've been told it's only been able to make spillover gravy from combo sales with other stations in the cluster. Maybe the slight power increase will help.

Radio Disney, on the other hand, always outperforms its frequency in high family-oriented areas when there's a good promotions director behind the station. If you're outside of the top 20 markets, sports does great billing only when you're the #1 sports station in the market. There's always a huge drop off between the #1 and #2 sports stations in markets 21-up.

Radio Disney may actually be a really great format idea. I cannot see why Crumulus is spending money on billboards for the fan ...
maybe they are making more $$$ from that than from RQQ. I really doubt it is making any serious money. Has anybody noticed the
change of music on RQQ? Wimping out, already? The next book will give us some first round details, but I would expect a mid 2
possible 3 12+ share. What can the Fan gain to increase revenues. Even if the signal gets to Mt. Juliet, there's little money in
those hills. The signal is rough in Brentwood, so they may be actually hurting themselves on the dollar demo of Williamson County.

If I was investing in billboards, I be taking RQQ to the masses. I wonder if ESPN is co-oping the billboards, so The Fan spends
little or nada?

When was the last time you left Davidson County and came out to them hills? Population is booming east of town.

Nock

I'm skeered to get away from them concrete streets of da big city, Nock.
Is there a place past this great county called Davidson --- real Nashville ---
none of this Metro crap.

I was more thinkin' Crumulus wouldn't go out there and sell anything. They'll
barely leave the Row. How does the signal get through that area without
electricity? Which way is that, from here?

Off the subject, are you at the Plantation Sunday for that jazz stuff? See ya
then. :0
