Hey, Josh Sabo is back on-air in the market.

Josh Sabo is a bit different then other board-ops because he was a sidekick on RBS and was a popular figure on the show (as he was good cop to Hammer's really bad cop).

There was some backlash as it was thought he was taken off the air in favor of more Hammer, though it was actually a cost cutting move as it was with other pre-GKB KNR voices like Jeff Thomas, Daryl Ruiter, and Bob Karlovec, (and almost Emmitt Golden).
 
Congrats to Josh. Sure it appears he is only a part-time board op or update guy right now, but perhaps he can move up over time if that's what he wants. Heck didn't the morning show producer just leave after barely two months at The Fan?? Opportunities pop up all the time in this business, that's for sure.

That must have been for a minute as I don't recall hearing him on that show....I thought he occasionally did fill-in sports updates.....I heard he was fired as budget cut.
Maybe he'll have better luck at CBS

Josh Sabo was indeed on tRBS for at least some time, and had other on-air roles at 'KNR. Of course, they put just about anyone with a pulse on the air at the Galleria...and that's not a knock on Sabo, specifically.

And he's still getting more attention in this thread than I've given him on the blog. :D
 
I should do a blurb on Eddie Mularz, who of course, landed at 92.3... :)

Or CBS Radio's Jaci Fox, who is now board op'ing "Bull and Fox" on that station, and does various on-air shifts elsewhere in the CBS cluster...

As someone who is rather new to the radio industry, I would love to hear the Eddie Mularz story.

Oh, and sorry for kicking off a firestorm. Well, kinda. I felt it was notable because Sabo was an on-air presence on tRBS. Not that I'm against talking about true board ops as well........

Not really much to tell about Mularz...he, like all the other names I previously mentioned was merely someone who kinda wanted to get paid to run the board at the Galleria, and the GKB mantra is "Why pay someone when we can have an intern do it".
 
Oh, and not to stir the pot......................But Josh is doing updates on 92.3 again this afternoon during Baskin and Phelps. #BooooYaaah

The real fun would be to get Josh, Jeff Thomas, Daryl Ruiter, and Eddie Mularz all together to swap some "Tales of the Galleria"

I wouldn't say they're running things.

It's just that they're kindred spirits that when aired together were migraine inducing.

Even Craig Karmazin (when he announced the lineup changes) said that the 2 of them started sounding like (and this is an honest-to-God direct quote) "2 Jack Russell terriers nipping at Rizzo's heels", so he had to seperate them.

Both have them have been on better behavior since the moves. Fedor has been kept in check by Hooley and Brinda, and Hammer (who was probably given a talking to by CK and Rizzo) has turned it down a couple of notches.

Fedor has no power at KNR, but CK likes him because he thinks that Chris' "contrarian/smartest guy in the room" schtick spices things up.

Hammer at one time had some stroke (Assistant PD), but was removed from that role (as well as board op duties). These days, he kinda seems to be working as Tony Rizzo's personal assistant (as Hammer--even off air--is right at Rizzo's side for a lot of functions/outings/meetings).

Craig Karmazin sees a lot of himself in Aaron Goldhammer...young, politically very liberal, Jewish, comes from money, and has a high profile father. They even sound a lot alike vocally

That's the main reason (more than anything) why Hammer is a teacher's pet...CK is basically looking in a mirror.
