Hey OA, does Roger have a sense of humor, or is he just being stubborn...

ONN is stil a state-wide cable news network, but not the state cable network.

I think he is doing this just to ruffle feathers.

p.s. Hi Roger, thanks for reading. Now go back to checking the real estate listings to see if any of the Indians have listed thier homes...and tell Ronnie Duncan we said "hi".

Yep, he's still at it. He's so stubborn about the above, maybe I should check ONN's ownership to see if the Dispatch folks have sold it to the state government! ;)

Maybe FSN Ohio should be called "the state sports network".

I KNOW Roger has read this board, OMW or both, as one of my riffs translated nearly directly into one of his column topics a day or two later. :D

There's no shortage of material that you guys could use to attack Roger about..but you guys should stop using this example. This is a gigantic reach...I don't think anyone outside of this board really thinks there's an implication that ONN is owned by the state...go after him for his "sources" and who is "whispering" what...but stop it with the ONN stuff. It completely reasonable to say ONN is the state network..just like the Buckeyes are state college team (actually bad example, we do own the Bucks)..but you get the picture.

No, it's not. Roger (should) have a certain responsibility to get the facts right. If he wants to write ish, then he can get a gig writing the 4pm newscast at WOIO. At least no one will notice he screwed up. Oh, that's right...he's not a reporter for a reason (this is where the heckler in the room yells "because he SUCKS!") :)

ONN is a state-wide news network. ONN is not "the state network." That implies that would be the channel you turn to for a state-wide emergency, for example. Most Regular Joe/Jane's of Ohio probably haven't a clue what "ONN" stands for (just like those no hazardous cargo signs on certain highways in this state).

Roger can continue to write like the uneducated black man that he is. And we'll continue to call him on the carpet for his blatant ignorance.

If you really wanna be picky about it, by Roger Brown's reasoning, you could call FSN Ohio "the state sports network". It isn't accurate, either.

The phrase just jumped out at me, and I wrote about it. That's all. It's really not anything more than that.

I would like to part here, and say that I'm not comfortable with the occasional racial references regarding Mr. Brown and his column that get posted here. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but skin color has nothing to do with what I think about Mr. Brown and his efforts for the PD.

Not racial, and a Roger Brown top 10

I agree that race has nothing to do with the quality of Mr. Brown's columns.
I also agree that there are plenty of other parts of the columns I could make fun of.

I feel that this (ONN) is the funniest and the most rediculous of all the items Mr. Brown refers to.

In an earlier post I tried to include many of the ingredients in a Roger Brown column, and I'll give it another try, because I am thankful that we at least have him to kick around...although I would rather have someone like Feder (Chicago Sun-Times) to actually read and discuss.

Maybe the PD is suffering from a loss in readership because they continue to sell readers in the Cleveland area short and don't think we want real reporting and real news.

Top 10 things found in Roger Brown's Column:
10. Athlete X sold his house in Suburb X
9. Ronnie Duncan (boxing, Ohio U parent, Cavs)
8. Former WTAM and WKNR talent in other markets
7. Adelphia Cable's Les Levine
6. TV Ratings for last weeks games and Arbs for Teams, KNR, Triv
5. Unfounded speculation on the Cavs, Tribe or Browns local TV rights
4. Pointless commentary on pointless commentary (CBS 4th string color man was great/awful covering Browns loss/win)
3. Allegedly fabricated rumors attributed to "we hear in this corner that..."
2. Something lifted from this board
1. A correction

There is no race issue here. If he was caucasian and spouted the same stuff, I'd call him an uneducated white guy. Roger brings it on himself.

Plus, why is the word "quality" being used to describe his columns?? Unless it's in reference to what kind of fodder it provides for this board... :)
