HI 99's Party Marty moves party to THE CROCK 92.7

Wow...I should probably brush off my resume and apply to Emmis :)p)! This is the biggest thing in Terre Haute since WZZQ was shut off.

Marty has been with HI-99 for well over a decade in the same shift even. I'll be sure to listen to his sign-on December 4th.

On the surface, I don't get it. Leave Emmis for a local company? Where's the upside? Is WTHI a terrible place to work? Does this guy seriously need to stay in Terre Haute because of obligations? If it's not that, then I'm puzzled by the move. jim

I saw the news story on WTWO on their 6p.m. newscast. Marty is going to be the program director for the CROCK, but as stated earlier, is this a step up?? I know that Marty is a great person and I wish him the best and I feel that his experience can only add to the CROCK. I'll be listening Dec. 4th on line. Could he actually pull listeners from HI-99 to the CROCK??

He can and he will. No questions about it. Will it make a HUGE ratings impact? Probably not. A slight impact? Of course.

I don't know what Marty's personal situation is, but WTHI is not a bad place to work last I heard from the sales department. I still don't see Emmis keeping their TH stations for any extended period of time because I don't see how they fit the company's profile.

Yes. The latest arbs for TH exclude a fairly major tweak at 98.5 FM (total rebranding and mostly new airstaff), but Crock is holding its own, especially for a class A rimshot.

Question: Who is filling Marty's slot? Since WTHI doesn't have part-timers, are they just jockless? I listened for a few minutes, and just heard liners and jingles. I would guess that Eric Micheals would get promoted to PM drive?

So I repeat my question. Is Emmis, and WTHI in particular, that bad of a place to work?

If it flies or dives......Would it not be a "Crock", no matter what????

Ok, so if you the program director for this 6kw fm in the Terre Haute market what would you do?? I have to give them credit for at least trying something different. Oh it does need some work with the repetition of certain selection of songs, but I have confidence that Marty will address this in time.

Despite being an A signal, the Crock is a player in Terre Haute - the only 2 commercial Bs are the top 2 rated stations in the market. Crock has a solid signal from the state line to Cloverdale on I-70.

I tuned into the Crock a couple days this week during PM Drive and noticed one thing: a lot of annoying PI style ads that played too often in 5 minute sets. If there is that much unsold inventory, cut the number of commercials you play.

And even during Marty's shifts, the station has an exhorbitant number of liners that have gotten tired since Sketch exited.

My two priorities as PD would then be
1) New liners
2) Change the format clock

And who can have a great radio station without good jingles? "Country and Rock together" and "The Crock" could be set to a melody -- for the right $$$

The music mix hasn't bugged me - but I haven't listened enough to be bugged by repetition of songs. I probably didn't tune the station at all for six weeks until Marty started.
