Yes, not only is "The Hi-Fi Club" still on the air at 1360, we're actually booking decent guests now!

This Sunday (Sept 10) will be a tribute to "Sump'n Else," the local version of "American Bandstand" that aired on WFAA-Channel 8 from 1965-68. Musicologist and former Channel 8 staffer Bud Buschardt will be on hand to talk about "Sump'n Else," along with his 1970s oldies show, "57 Nostalgia Place" (WFAA-570) and other programs he's hosted or worked on. Lots of radio/TV trivia, classic airchecks and soundbites, and we'll play the songs and bands (many local) who appeared on "Sump'n Else."

Next Sunday (Sept 17) will be a tribute to KLIF's Gordon McLendon, who passed away 20 years ago next week.

Tune in 6PM-8PM this Sunday night on KMNY-1360, or listen live on the web at www.thehificlub.net!

Now don't discredit past guests that you've had on the program because you've had some pretty good people on so far.

You're right, I didn't mean to make it sound that way!! And we're working on Suzie Humphreys and Bill Mercer now; both have agreed to come on the show, it's just a matter of scheduling now...same for Mike Selden's son. And we'll get Norm Alden by phone again soon, and George Carlin as well! Stay tuned!! ;D

I had the honor of giving Bud his first radio show on WFAA-57 when I was PD there back in the early 70's. I was impressed with Bud's incredible knowledge of music and we started him on a midnight to 2 AM show and later gave him Sunday nights 7 to midnight where he was often #1 12+.
Bud went on to host a longtime Sunday afternoon oldies show on KVIL and has been PD at and ABC syndicated oldies format for many years now.
He is a very talented and very honorable man. A gem of a human. Glad to see him receive some well-deserved attention.

Any chance of hearing it again? Maybe on CD or a repeat????? I used to go and watch the show at the mall from the little control room window. That's where the action really was for me. Thanks!
