High-speed rail station could displace Dallas Morning News, WFAA

And??? Is TxCN still alive?? (I gave it a 20% chance of surviving).....Probably time for new studios, etc anyway....(I still remember the old KTVT Dallas studios on N Central Expressway)

TXCN is still alive, endlessly regurgitating edited newscasts from the other Texas Gannett stations (WFAA/KHOU/KENS/KVUE.) Haven't given it more than a glance lately, so don't know if the recently acquired London station group's newscasts have been added to the mix. Belo pretty much gave up on separate staffing and content for TXCN around 2005, shortly after the failure of corporate siblings News 24 Houston and News 9 San Antonio. So much potential for those three efforts, very badly bungled...Belo set a lot of money on fire when all was said and done.

Bad channel positioning didn't help TXCN. In Houston it has always been lost amongst the higher numbered channels on Time Warner>>Comcast, and is not in HD. Also not part of the basic digital package.

The WFAA building was surprisingly ratty on the inside as far back as the 90's, so probably no better today unless they've done some renovation. With the shrinking size of station staffs these days Gannett may want a smaller building. Or perhaps they are a little envious of the newer KXAS/KXTX and KTVT/KTXA buildings.

If anything WFAA could move its broadcast/production ops entirely over to Victory Park and lease office space for its management/ad sales offices.

You may be interested in knowing the former KTVT building on North Central Expressway is being demolished. No word on what is coming in its place.
