Just wanted to comment on Stingray as a company. They have put together and programmed some excellent radio stations. Boom 97.3 is one of the best radio stations that I’ve ever listened to, and I credit this to the impeccable presentation and willingness to be a little different. They don’t deviate too far from what the masses will accept, but they make their programming far more interesting than most radio stations.
It was too bad when they flipped their classic hits radio station in Vancouver to soft AC. I always thought this radio station sounded great, but there was too much saturation.
Seconded on Boom being one of the better stations I've heard. I have it as one of my presets(it comes in very decently in the metro Buffalo market). That station is regularly in the top 5, if not the top 3, of Toronto radio ratings. I chalk it up to a number of factors: 1. You've got some well-known personalities(Stu Jeffries doing mornings, Maie Pauts(ex-CFNY)in middays and Kris James(aka KJ, veteran of 92.5 Kiss FM(in its country and FIRST go-round with top 40). 2. The imaging is top-notch. 3. They do fun things(Turntable Tuesday, One Hit Wonder Wednesday, Totally 80s Fridays(as well as 80s weekends when a holiday comes up).
