Hiring for staff of the new KYA Cluster// Meeting at NAB

It's great to hear radio talk from the 60's and the 70's...Can I throw in some of my favorite thoughts?...Dan Sorkin and Wilma Bankie on KSFO...Terry McGovern on KSFO...KEWB, Channel 91( remember their jingle that had the pacing of a train picking up speed? I'd sure like to hear that again)....the Sounds of the City jingle on KSFO...old time radio shows at night on KSFO...Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons on KSFO Giants baseball...winning 4 Blood,Sweat, & Tears albums from Tom Campbell's "Just get thru & win" nights on KYA...Hearing actual radio personalities on KSFO and KYA who weren't demeaning, crude or outragious, just talented preparers of entertainment...Carter B Smith filling in when Sherwood didn't show and eventually becoming a star in his own right...Emperor Gene Nelson ( go,go,go)...quality, memorable jingles from KFRC< KSFO< KEWB< KYA...Roy Storey and San Francisco Seals hockey...Getting hooked on King Crimson by hearing "Court of the Crimson King" on Jim Lange's show on KSFO...
All these helped me decide to get into radio...My first job in Personality radio was KROW in Dallas, Oregon (Solid Gold KROW) for a year...KSEN in Shelby, Montana for a year, and KORK, Las Vegas for 7 years...radio changed, personality stations were going away and I got out in 1981 since you can make better money just about anywhere other than radio...But I told myself as long as it was fun, let's get paid for what I did at home for free...At least I can say I did what I always wanted to do and had some great experiences...I'm now a mailman in Las Vegas and radio here is terrible, not even college quality...I podcast Armstrong & Getty from Sacto and listen to them each day...They are the best team I've ever heard and are both entertaining and informative...If anyone knows of a team like them or a general place online where I can find other radio podcasts across the country, please post it...I also listen to John & Ken from KFI, but they aren't as funny as Armstrong and Getty

Boss RadioDJ,
The Bay Area Radio Museum is a great site...along with the Radio Digest...Also like Radio Waves from Ben Fong Torres in the Chron...if only people 35 and under knew what they were missing when it comes to "radio personalities" and entertaining radio...It's nice to have a few who remember and yearn for that quality..But hey, seperate boys and girls high schools are coming back ( we knew it as Catholic High School in the 50's-70's)...So maybe Personality Radio can make a come back..Since the top 5 concerts are usually guys or groups over 60 years old, maybe some smart owner or PD will dig into some archives and resurrect a KSFO or KYA...Here's hoping...............

"Getting hooked on King Crimson by hearing "Court of the Crimson King" on Jim Lange's show on KSFO..."

Really?? King Crimson on Jim Lange's show on KSFO?! I'm amazed. KSFO's PD must have given their jocks a little more leeway than sister station KMPC in LA. I think I heard King Crimson first on KMET-FM. I still have the album somewhere in my closet...

I believe the Fresno station is KFSO , rather than KSFO, Ive heard that station before down in the Valley Kenny in Concord
