"Historic" BMI and ASCAP royalty rate increases for broadcast radio

And The Mamas & The Papas, which was formed by (of all people) Barry McGuire, whose "Eve Of Destruction" was Dunhill's first #1 single.

The Four Tops were also there for several years after leaving Motown in 1972, staying after the merger into ABC two years later.


My recollection is that the artists who came over with the merger had a hybrid "ABC/Dunhill" label on their releases for a while, but they were the only ones.

The label was started by record producer Lou Adler, who produced the Mamas & The Papas. They were on Dunhill too. Lou is still very much alive, and attends LA Laker games when he can. He has seats on the floor, near the team. If you watch a game, look for a man with a white beard and a beret.

McArthur Park by Richard Harris was also on Dunhill.
