This is the first chance I have had to respond to posts a little over a week ago about the earliest Nashville radio stations. I wrote my college Master's degree thesis on that subject, covering the period between 1919-1929. But I actually included stations and stories that went up to the Second World War. I am now expanding upon that, and writing about Nashville radio from 1940-1970. Highlights will be, of course, WSM and WLAC as the continuing leaders (at least perception-wise) because of their power and national reputation, and the wars between rock leaders WKDA and WMAK. If any of you have anything you would like to contribute, I would love to hear from you. Also, if anyone wants specific information on the topics covered in the posts of a week or two ago, such as the original stations (WDAD, WBAW and others) or the station owned by Luke Lea of the then Nashville Tennessean (WTNT), feel free to e-mail me [[email protected]] or call me 325-3250.
